So my exhaust manifold for my 351w is touching my shock tower on the passenger side, is it OK to run it like that or should I pull the engine and make more room (engine is all bolted in and mostly wired up)
It should not be touching. The engine moves when it's running. Are you using Maverick-specific exhaust manifolds?
It'll wear it's own clearance... The engine tends to "lean" to right under load, note the area touching will get very hot...
Larry, are there Maverick specific exhaust manifolds for the 351W? Or, are you talking about using Maverick 302 manifolds?
The Maverick exhaust manifolds for the 302 also fit the 351W. Of course they don't flow as well as headers, but at least they fit the car.
The 351 was never offered in a Maverick, so there are no manifolds for such application... AFAIK excepting possibly for exhaust angle, all factory manifolds are approx same...
