Ford Motor Corporation announced Friday, that the Ford Maverick will once again be seen on America's highways. The Maverick, a car that Ford produced from 1969 to 1977 was a compact car available as a two door or four door variant. While not a "muscle car" the Maverick was popular to enthusiasts because a V-8 engine was available.

Ford is planning on unveiling the new Maverick at the 2018 Detroit auto show. At a press conference on Friday, Ford announced that it will bring the Maverick nameplate to the US starting in 2019.

"We've heard our customers loud and clear. They want a performance vehicle that is incredibly powerful but not not overly expensive said Joe Hinrich, Ford President of the Americas. "We believe the Maverick nameplate is a great way to honour our Ford motoring heritage."

The new Maverick will be produced at the planned Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan. It will be based on the Ford Fusion platform and will sport a twin-Turbo 3.3 liter V-6 Ecoboost engine. It will deliver 375 hp and 400 lb ft of torque.

A prototype is expected to be available by April 1st, 2018. Get it? April Fools day!

Probably is April Fools. If it is true, I'll bet it looks nothing like a Maverick.

Time to come clean. Yes, the article is completely fabricated April Fools day B.S.
The article is loosely based on the press release for the Ford Ranger including the plant details in Wayne, Michigan. The stuff on the Fusion platform was made up. The engine, horsepower and torque were loosely based on the F-150 but jacked up in size and power. As far as "honouring our Ford motoring heritage", I think that was the Jack Daniels. I hope you all enjoyed reading it.

But never say never. Ford still owns the name!
