I don't care it is looks right visually, I just want to get this car on the road then worry about cosmetics.
Is there anything else that I need to take off to get the column apart besides these two bolts and the little clip around the steering shaft? Anything?
I was able to fix the problem and I also got the car running after sitting for 15 years! Now I can finally move on with the project.
Kind of hard to explain. My car is not a column shift so I had eliminated this as a problem but the part that rotates if I did have a column shift was stuck in a position that wouldn't let the lock assembly move past it. That's what I felt it catching on. I was able to get the column apart thenot since it was stuck I took a sawzaw and cut off the piece of metal it was hanging on. My next problem is trying to find ALL of the rubber suspension parts so if you have any info on that let me know.
when I did my column to floor shift conversion I had to secure the lever in the park position so it would let the key turn to the lock position. how I found this was I was coming up to my driveway and the steering wheel locked coming down the road...
