so i was hoping to get an all electric ac kit so as to save on horse power/gas when i do the 347 swap. BUT.....they are too expensive by the time i upgrade the wiring and alternator issues to run it.

where is the best place to get all the stock ac parts? asking before looking as i dont want to strain my brain and flip out. thanks!!

I put a 71 AC in my 74. Got almost everything needed at the junkyard and the rest off eBay. The AC shop made the hoses and charged the system

We have the Vintage Air mock-up boxes if you want to see which one of their boxes will fit.

I put a stock system in my car 20 years ago. I used the non-AC dash and blocked the vents. Works great.

Cometized is listing an AC system in the "What did you do today..." section.

    Ditto on: Parts car.
Here's my first picture of my parts car:
    75 donor car.jpg
I got a poorly running, but still driveable, if you fill the tranny, 75 Maverick parts car for $350

I got the heat-a/c box, dash with climate controls vents and duct work, hoses, condenser and accumulator and sight glass. Painted the dash, touched up the vents and have it ready to install:
    100_2682.JPG

And I got the under dash tray with glove box (my 70 didn't have a glove box) and A/C vents:
    100_2748.JPG

I sold the complete running 250 motor and C4 trans from the parts car for $350.

I also got the power disc brakes and everything I need to make them work:

    new sway bar links.jpg

I also got the 5 lug suspension and upgraded my rear end from 4 lug 2.79 to 5 lug 3.00 with bigger drums.

    I sold my 2.79 8" rear for $200 at a swap meet

All together, I have sold more than $1000 of parts from my parts car after removing everything I wanted and then scrapped the carcass for another $35. Here's the last picture of my parts car in the back of my truck:

Parts cars are great at the beginning of a project. You get a hundred other little things here and there like trim clips, special screws, and lenses, etc.

I saw this in Atlanta craigslist this morning, I would buy it in a heartbeat if I had the money and space to put another car. It could be a gold mine of great parts and isn't a million miles away from you:

    https://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/cto/d/1973-ford-maverick/6212287620.html

It doesn't have the power brake shock tower brace, but it does have complete factory A/C and probably has the V8 belly bar.

Who cares about a title if it is a parts car?
Check the VIN # with the state police, before you buy, if you are worried about it being stolen.

Check with your local DMV before you go look, there are legal ways around a lost title for old cars in Georgia, if you decided it was too restoreable to part-out.

You don't need a title in Georgia on old cars...just a bill of sale.

I have less than $500 in the whole factory system by using the junkyard and eBay. Most expensive thing was the AC shop making hoses and re-charging system, that cost $250. http://1bad6t.com/Maverick/maverick_57.html

I installed a complete vintage air under dash kit with heat and it cost me around $1100 and works great.

could you PM me the specs on the model you used? I am thinking about switching from stock to aftermarket A/C.

Luxury Decor Option (LDO).....V8....Factory AC. Too bad the roof has serious rust under the vinyl.
