I took the fuel sending unit out with out removing tank. I have no gas in the tank. Should I flush the tank or just put the new sending unit in a call it day. I don't want to drop the tank.

How long has the car been sitting with an empty tank? How long was the sending unit out? With the unit out you should be able to get a view inside the tank with a small mirror and light, or at least a good picture with your phone.
