I am planning on swapping from manual to power brakes. I was wondering if the brake booster and master cylinder will clear the shock tower on that side? I also want to swap over to disk brakes on the front. Will a mustang conversion kit work and if so what year model mustang? Let me know,Thanks.
I don't know anything about the mustang kits, but the factory set up is displaced at an angle to clear the shock tower. I know there are other threads on here about PB conversions. The search should get you to what you need and what it takes. What I do recall reading is that if you get a factory set up, get the parts all the way back to the brake pedal, its supposedly different between manual and PB set ups due to that offset. Good luck.
How about a hydro boost kit? I’ve noticed ads for them in car mags. Anyone know if those might fit? MD
from other posts you've made, you would be way ahead buying a PS, PB. V8 car to start with. that way you will only have to rebuild parts instead of buying, rebuilding then installing all these systems...JMO
71gold is right! That's why I wound up with the '75. Was going to use it as a donor, then figured it was way easier to just build it as it had everything I really wanted on it rather than to swap all those mechanical parts.
You sound like my ex wife, "oh don't put power steering on the Cobra, it won't be original"... BS woman, tend to your own business... Because of the slow manual steering ratio, I'd installed a power steering sector back in '91... Yeah that livened up the steering but made it very hard to turn at speeds under 10 mph... To get it into my driveway it was pull it back into 2nd, and use both hands... With P/S I can turn and shift at same time, car is so much more pleasurable to drive, I'm kicking myself for not doing so 15 years ago... I was kinda OK with it up till that point, drove it to TN in Y2K, but till '17 that was the last year it logged more than 1000mi... Some years it didn't get 75mi... The 6cyl parts Comet didn't have P/S and did steer fairly easily, of course it's pitiful ratio(exact same as was on Cobra) dictated turning steering wheel over five turns lock to lock... That's just insane...
I am changing it because this what he wanted to do when he owned the car. And to be honest, with the help of some connections of some friends I am getting most of the expensive parts for pretty cheap. It would only cost more for me to start over and try to find a v8 car.
I agree. It's pretty easy to turn with the 6 cylinder thats in the car right now, but the amount of times you have to turn it is insane. The good thing about the manual steering in my car though is it doesn't have a lot of play in it. But I am swapping over to a 302 and am planning on putting wider tires on it. Will it be hard to turn at low speeds then? Because if it is ok I will leave it like it is for now.

Wide rubber & and another 200-250 lbs on front suspension, lets just say there will be a noticable change... Aluminum heads, intake and tube headers would knock the weight down by close to 100 lbs... Everyone's opinion of what they find acceptable is different...
I am trying to find a master cylinder and brake booster that will fit this car. Does the master cylinder itself change from a manual to power setup or is the same master cylinder bolted to a booster. Also, do you know any good websites where I can get a booster that will fit?
