so ive had some 15" magnum 500s on order now since august and they have been placed on back order 3 times now. the next "anticipated" delivery date is feb28th, 2018.

i have all the parts needed to finish my maverick sitting in my garage but cant use any of them until i get the 15" wheels on it. the 5 lug conversion is on hold...i have the new rear.

the disc brake conversion is sitting in the garage. cant put it on without 5 lugs and 15" wheels.

the 347...transmission....gear vendors overdrive is waiting. sure i could go ahead with this, but with all that power and torque, the factory rear would get shredded.

i understand that back orders happen, but what makes me the most aggravated is that jegs, coker tire, wheels vintique, cj ponycars and a few others are STILL taking orders and holding people up by making out that these wheels are available. just makes me mad. if im held up, im sure there are others.

and yes ive called around and every company that ive seen that sales these chrome 15" magnums get the wheels made by the same company. i also called that exact company a few weeks ago that makes them. iirc it was the people at coker. i was told they are having problems with chrome plating and that they didnt know when it would be fixed. he seemed upfront after i told him my wait time already and just asked him to tell me the truth.

sure i could go with another wheel, but as sure as i get another set, then these will be ready to go, then im stuck with a look i dont like.

come on!!! stop taking orders until you get your crap together!!!

    end of rant!

I've been thinking about ordering as well... Probably good I've waited...

I'm 99% Coker just sell the wheels, have to source them same as other vendors... They sell packages with vintage tires mounted, no doubt hurting their business as well...

Omg wow. So I found that Dearborn sales the magnums under a company called Ecklers. I was hoping this would be another option to get my wheels. I called them today asking about their 4 wheel package and asked what the backspacing measurements were. The lady on the phone didnt know what that meant. Said she would find out and call me back. Never heard from her.

So when I got home I went to one of their dealer sites and simply stated that jegs has put me on backorder 3 times since august of 2017 and id like to order from them. I asked of these wheels were available for shipping right now as the website stated. I got back an email just now telling me that my question cant be posted because it doesnt meet the website guidelines. O did some digging and read that they also get their wheels from coker, which gets theirs from wheels vintiques which is the same company not fullfillimg these orders.

Folks these companies know good and well these wheels arent being made and the orders cant be filled, yet they continues to take orders anyway.

This is some b's. Ive attached a photo of their response to me reguarding my simple honest question.

I feel your pain! There used to be another company that was based in Oregon which manufactured all steel Magnum 500 16x8 rims that Dearborn/Ecklers had listed on their website for years. I tried many times over the last few years to try and purchase, was told they where available and then not etc., until finally they where discontinued. Apparently they where bought out by Coker and moved thus 16x8 steel Magnums discontinued..........I was lucky enough to get a set of 15x7 Magnums from Wheels Vintiques through Summit a couple of years ago, still sitting in their original boxes.........

Cam you post some pics of those 15x7s? What is the back space? I may buy them from you. Then I'd just need my 2 back wheels.

Working on Comet is all on hold at the moment as I am looking after my 92 year old Mom, backspacing on the Wheel Vintiques Magnum 500:
    15 x 6 4"
    15 x 7 4.25"
    15 x 8 4.5"

Good luck on your search! I think Summit has an expected delivery for end of March!

I will say this, if they are having many problems with the production of these wheels. I don't think I would want some of the first sets coming out of the factory.

I was waiting to get the correct backspaced Keystone Klassic for my slightly wider 9" rear. The catalog 15x8 only has a 3 7/8" backspace. Crager will make custom backspaces but they have been on hold, not taking any new orders. I have been waiting for a year and finally gave up. Dealing with their custom service was going nowhere. They could not give me a straight answer on anything. Just a runaround.

So I decided to go a complete different direction. While I wanted the Keystone look - I have always thought the US Indy style slotted mags look great on Mavericks. I found a seller on ebay that has sets of 4 - Ansen Sprints with center caps for under $400 delivered. They have 15x7, 15x8, and combo of 15x7 and 15x8. I went with the combo.

Here is a link to ebay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-15-inch-...ash=item1ed41b66a8:g:2BEAAOSww3tY8DD1&vxp=mtr

I was a little skeptical of the price - too good to be true I thought - but I received a set of perfect wheels in only a few days after order. I am super happy and they look great. To top it all off, I was able to sell my keystones and actually came out way ahead on the cash side of the deal. Only bad thing is polished aluminum is a bit harder to care for than chromed but I can deal with it.

Thats a good deal on the wheels, anytime you can get a set of wheels delivered for under $100.00 each is good. I prefer polished aluminum over chromed due to the rust issues with chrome and dogs and cats using them to relieve themselves , not that they are picky just if you dont catch it in time its like acid and will etch the chrome . I despise the wheels that come with the clear plastic coating on them . I use a product called Heavy Metal to polish aluminum wheels and it has a long lasting wax effect and they stay shiny for a long time.

    Eric are you using a 57-59 Ford 9 " ?

Yes - 57-59 with the drain. Also have the Jegs disc kit. Could have used up to 5 1/2" backspace. The Keystones looked awesome, but even with the fender lips rolled, I still had issues with the 3 7/8" backspace and tire rub. The Ansens are 4 1/2" and now the tires clear just fine.

    Eric:
Will a 13/16" socket fit to tighten the wheel nuts? Just wondering if you can use Acorn style lug nuts or if you have to use those "bulging/cone" type? I do like the look of them, smooth and definitely easier to maintain, especially in the wet PNW! Are they cast one piece units?? What size are your rear disc rotors? Mine are 11", so just wondering if there is enough clearance? The Magnum 500 15 x 7 just clear, had to smooth out the welds on the rims and corners on my calipers though............thanks!

Hi David - Yes 1 piece wheel, 11" disc too on mine with no issues with contact anywhere, 13/16 fit fine. I used ET long 60 degree conicals. All fit fine. I tried to take a couple of pictures of the wheel and lug nuts but my camera didn't focus well in the 5 degree temp we have here right now. I did get a pic off the web of the ET longs I used.

    Hope this helps!

Sorry, I was not trying to hijack the thread and make it about my wheels. Just wanted to tell my story about the trouble I had with ordering wheels and give others an option for wheels I found that were in stock.

ive thought very much about going with the slotted mags. theyre my second favorite wheel, but they always remind me of my 74 mustnag2. just dont want to have that look on the maverick. its a personal thing lol. but i am now considering the closet magnum chrome knockoff i can find. the aluminum versions look ok but i dont like the flat look on the front. looks to modern for me. so im still waiting and looking.

my problem is, i cant put the disc brake kit on until i have the 5 lug wheels. i certainly dont want to put the 347 in with drum brakes. those things barley stop the 200. i could just go easy on the gas i guess, but im afraid id be tempted to much to just run it hard sometimes. dont want to die just yet lol
