I knew this was coming. I do not drive it much and I am confident we can get it figured out. Disk brakes may come later. I converted my other car to disk but wanted to keep this one all original except wheels.

I don't see that as a likely cause, at least not without some pulsing when brakes are applied... Swapping drums and/or brake components from one side to other should tell you if it's a mechanical vs hydraulic issue...

What would be the point of "all original"? It's not a rare collectible car, and it's better to have good brakes.

I do not disagree Larry. No good reason other than it reminds me of my first car when I was 16. This car is identical to the one I had in high school. And I have already sunk the money in all new drum shoes, wheel cylinders etc.

It is almost like the right front is locking up prematurely

It is also possible to have debris, either rust or dirt in your brake lines, which can cause a partial blockage, especially in the distribution block (located on inner fender beside the M/C), would cause imbalance in pressure between front RH/LH and could cause locking up one side. As others have mentioned, if you have not done so, change your hydraulic hoses, thoroughly flush out your lines and bleed.
This is what I've used for flushing/bleeding...........good luck!

It is possible to have drum that is a little out of round. You say that they are adjusted correctly just how did you adjust them ? I like to adjust mine with the wheel off the ground and spinning the tire until you can hear the brake pad just start to scrape the drum, almost always there will be a spot where the pad will start to scrape and then quit that is when I stop adjusting it but this is on old drums that have not been turned in a perfect world it should scrape all the way around.

Have you tried backing off the suspected drum to see if it stops the problem ? At least you could rule one part out that way

After going over all the posts, did you have your drums turned/trued?? Did not see anything mentioned about that, just that you replaced a wheel cylinder and new shoes...........
