in my dealings with aftermarket parts...don't mention "Maverick" just it's an E-brock carb # so in so with a C-4...
learned this at Mustang Unlimited in Atl. I stood in line for about 45 mins. to be waited on. when it was my turn I told the Guy I had a Maverick to which he said..."we don't sell Maverick parts"...next. so I walk out all pissed off and then thought, I've driven for an hour and a half to get here and I know the part is Mustang. I went back in, got in line and so happens I get a different sales person. I tell him I have a 1973 Mustang and the part I needed. within 5 mins. I'm out the door with my part...:slap:

Edelbrocks are completely different than the holleys.

Yup, kickdown lever on Holley is installed on shaft at factory, not removable... At least without disassembling throttle shaft, requiring removal of throttle blades...

Right on Tom. We've drilled and ground off the staked ends and retacked them a few times.. but far easier to just find the complete shaft and swap it over for proper kickdown allowance.

Like you and I already said.. either way.. Eddy stuff needs to be modded to make everything fit and reach where it's supposed to because it's nowhere close to oem locations like the holley and autolite stuff was. Not a huge deal.. just a consideration to keep in mind once you start tearing into it.

I looked up the eddy part #1483 and it looks like a part I might need as well to make life a little easier. Any thoughts?

As mentioned.. always go straight to the horses mouth to help avoid the other end while needlessly ordering parts that may or may not even work. Tech support hotline is listed in these linked instructions.

Don't blame the manufacturer for making something that probably has zero marketability. Not sure even why you want a kickdown. You can downshift it manually with very little effort.

Pretty much because I want it to function as intended. The only reason it doesn't have its factory 2 bbl is because when I bought it in AZ it was full of sand and I had a 4 bbl and intake on the shelf. Now I want to hook it up right so I can drive it. Eventually it will be back to all original including it's autolite I believe. it's one of few 62D optioned out 74 grabbers in ohio that I've seen and the only one I've seen in Columbus.

I am a little late to the game on this....but can't you just buy the kickdown linkage kit?

I bought the rod extension kit part # 8011 from Eddelbrock but I might also need the 1483 kit as well. I'm not sure.

Yes, 8011 is useless without 1483.

Did you see the link and tech support number I posted for you above?

Short of one of us actually doing it, I'm not sure what else we can do for you here? Make the call and you'll know what you need.

Glad to hear it! Does your trans have the adjustable modulator?

If so then it's just a matter of fine tuning the part throttle shift characteristics with the kickdown adjustment. Of course it depends on how the engine is modded and driving style, but ideally you want the modulator set to not be too responsive while keeping line pressures in check under light to moderate throttle angles.. and then adjust the kickdown so the trans downshifts under slower progressively applied moderate to heavier throttle so the engine won't lug going up longer grades.
