I have these in that size on my utility trailer on 10" slots. They were too short to suit me on the Comet.

 

Frank, did you already remove the bump stops from the frame rails? That'll give you a lot of room. I removed mine, and got over 1/2" more room. Just askin',

 

yep...but that doesn't change the...tire to spring distance...

I have close to 1/2". Running 15x8 4.25bs wheel and a 275/60/15 mickey Thompson tire.

 

If you are looking to make some extra room I'll be doing a tech write up soon on moving the leafs inboard with a much sturdier forward spring eye mount. With a rolled fender lip this will allow a 11.5" section width rear tire. I will be running a Hoosier quick time pro DOT 27x11.5x15 on a 9" rim.

 

That would be a good tech right up I am sure there are many people that would be interested in it

I am having trouble getting the guy to water jet and send me the parts, but still working it. I will post some pictures of the install on his racecar.

 

Have you had any luck getting those parts made for moving the leaf springs inboard?

 

I picked up an explorer rearend and it’s at the shop being shortened. I don’t have the relocation brackets yet but keep bugging Mike Bowen about them. He is running the NMRA series and working his shop by himself, so maybe a little overwhelmed.

 

Ok, I am keeping watch on this subject because I would like to move the leaf springs in a little to be able to run wider tires tucked inside wheel wells..

You can gain some just by jacking the rear up and loosening the U bolts, then using a crowbar, pushing the springs inboard while retightening the U bolts.
