Working a 77 Comet w power steering. Used power steering box from 71, unknown year manual rack to replace power rack, full roller bearing replacement on all perches links and what have ya... Problem now is, Keep in mind I've just eyeballed uper and lower arms, heim struts, but going lock to lock w steering wheel yeild super sharp steering, like what they do to drifters, to the point of the tires rubbing on the inside in the back when turned all the way either direction, the tires hit befor the stop on the struts. I used the original struts for the heim conversion...

Will this adjust out or has anyone run into this?

    Any comments appreciated

If wheels are too far back in wheel well they will often rub on sharp turns. I start by pulling the LCA as far forward as adj will allow. Just be sure tire doesn't rub on front of fender opening.

If it's actually turning at too sharp of angle, I'd have to guess ratio on pitman arm is incorrect. A manual box should be approx 5¼ turns lock to lock. P/S boxes are 3½ L to L.

That is great that you "rollerized" your front end, John is a great guy to deal with, I've had many conversations with him in the past, along with his Upper/Lower roller control arms, perches.........
Another thing you maybe interested in is "rollerizing" your manual center link, replacing the center link bushing/Idler Arm into fully "rollerize" units. A few years ago, I talked to John (Opentracker) about "rollerizing" our Mav/Comet, and I ended up fabricating my own units, he now offers this set up for our cars, scroll down the link till you see "Maverick Double Roller ~ Trans Am style Idler Arm", http://opentrackerracing.com/orp/ This will really improve the "feel" of your steering!

I am confused as you say, you have a RACK from a 71 to replace steering in the 77. Neither car came w/ a RACK.
So, I am confused as to if your converting/converted to RACK setup or using OE type steering box.??

Are your strut rods factory or aftermarket? The factory strut rods turn up on the end attached to the lower control arm to provide a positive stop against the spindle when turning right or left.

Sounds like he is using original struts, but will be modifying the ends?

I said rack... meant standard manual link in place of power stearing link, terminology may be still wrong, but the end link has a bearing instead of bushing. I took the strut rods and cut the end off and mounted a clevise and hiem joint. Took the instructions from a website by i think Mustang Dave. It's been on the web for quite a while...
