Hello All. I recently posted a thread over swapping fifth generation Mustang parts into a Maverick with a blown I6. You all told me how bad of an idea that would be. You are probably right. My question now is, what is the cheapest it is going to be to get the Straight 6 built/replaced. If it matters, I am in South VA. This car has been off the road since the early half of the 21st century, and probably need everything rebuilt. Aaaaggghhh. Tranny and rear end should be fine, oil change and seals/gaskets being replaced should do it. Motors that could also be used, ordered, all options are of interest. Muchas gracias por any assistance.

If I recall correctly it is a 250. What would be the average cost to get the motor completely rebuilt and running again. I will have more information soon, just looking at what to expect for the 200/250.

Can YOU rebuild the motor? If not, expect to have about $4000 in getting somebody to rebuild a motor for you and using all the new parts.

Cheapest way to do it: Get a used running motor from another car.

If your car has been sitting along time....you will find that the car will need lots and lots of work to get it road worthy. That means $$$$.

Resurrecting one of these cars, with no experience, means you will need lots of $$$$$

Exactly why in my first reply I posted a link to the Craigslist ad.

You may find the existing six engine needing only freshening or minor rebuild if not water or vermin contaminated.

I have a number of small block sixes that were picked up inexpensively on E-Bay or Craigs list locally or donated from V8 swaps.

... 'picked up Columbia University Engineering department Dynamometer Drive - Ford six engine. Used on huge green cast Iron motor-generator into a roomful of stepped resistor - WATT/HP loads. Used an adapted Mustang SIX but the Dyno was much older - NOTE Exhaust Gas and Oil temp sensors and static mounted tailshaft oiler. Engine was built to engineering students specs !. $ 200.oo Ebay:
