Hey fellas, I looking at swapping in a 363 into the comet, it has brodix 214 heads.. they have the exhaust ports raised 1/2 inch like the high ports.. my hooker 6901 headers are puny in size to the head's exhaust port.. the felpro 1415 gasket barely has any contact with the cylinder head. My question is.. who has headers that are 1 3/4 primary tubes or larger than fit our cars with stock shock towers? I believe Crites has come up before.. JBA exhaust shows some for a 65-66 mustang but when I emailed asking about fitment they stated that they wouldn't fit a maverick... I figured i'd ask..
Prolly not. Most aluminum heads seem to be slightly wider than stock, my 1½"(5/8?) Thorley shorties rub the steering box. People with stockish cast iron heads say they have plenty of clearance.
Some have used the Hooker 6208 headers but with the heads you are using they would probably be iffy and you may have to use spacer plates to get them away from the block, dang shock towers any way they spoil all the fun
To a degree, can be fixed with a bend in the header pipe. Still it's something that should not be necessary.
