Invite friend over and offer him a soda. Encourage him to be honest and ask him why car was parked. Sitting 10 years? engine, trans, suspension, brakes, etc. Could be a big project but doable. Learn as you go!
Ford switched all models to electronic ignition beginning 1975. I believe Calif models switched in '74 .
it sat because his brother tried to steal it from him and he was spiteful and didn't want it anymore.
Mr. JosephBrand Your age in your profile is 18. No phone yet? And relying on your dads? You do know fixing up an old car cost lots of money and time. You mentioned your dad several times. I know times tough but are you employed? Hope i,m not offending you being so direct. Setting priorities and having a plan is very very important.
JosephBrand Don,t sweat what I said. 20 yrs in USAF in me. We break people down a little in hope of getting them on right track. Post up pictures when you get camera. If you can buy a haynes manual from a pepboys or local parts store for your car or an early mustang would be helpful. And don,t be afraid to take things apart. Just pay attention. Lable and draw pictures. Reference youtube or internet before and after. Building confidence is name of game. Less help is sometime better.
yes my birthday is tomorrow and we have the stuff for the brakes and should be able to get it running. It will be my first car and my daily driver. Which will help me get a job. I am in college right now so they aren't forcing me to get a job until I have my degree.
Parents arent forcing you to get a job until you get a degree? Googgle and read about the two. Intrinsic motivation verse extrinsit motivation. And Happy Gobble Gobble Birthday young man
thank you and another reason I can't get a job is we don' have a vehicle for me to drive hence the maverick.
Electronic... On left inner fender, near the washer bottle should be the control module, those are what usually fail. It's roughly a 5" x 5" aluminum box.
It is connected. Hi this is Joseph with the 75 maverick. well I am a dumbass. I replaced the starter solenoid and now nothing works. not even the dome light. any ideas? we had to hit it with a ratchet to free it up and it smoked the last time we tried to start it on the old one
You need to check the accessory wires that are connected to the big threaded lug on the solenoid. (On the battery cable side) NOT the starter cable side. Betcha one of em is not connected or broken. Fusable link may have failed too. Big brown wire usually feeds the fuse box. Its a fusable link...
