Hello I have a ticking sound in my engine can’t describe it. I talked with a friend he thinks it maybe my lifters but the noise is coming from under oil pan area? Any clues wud be appreciated Thanx I attempted to add short video but it wud not allow the file! Frankie
Upload the video to youtube and share the link. There is a possibility it's an exhaust leak, that could sound like it's low on the engine and can mimic the sound of a lifter. When my header gaskets were starting to fail that was always my first though, time to adjust the valves.
Thanx R Miller that cud be a source Because I can see they my Manifold is not sitting as securely as it shud be!! I’ll try that route before I take down the bottom Pan!! Frankie
Thanx RMilker here is the link to what I’m hearing?? it may help in any info you may have! https://youtube.com/shorts/BVGONg4gcFc?feature=share
That doesn't sound like exhaust, it does sound like valve train but I'm also listening to it on an old android phone so I could be wrong.
It definitely sounds like lifters. First, I would check your valves with a feeler and adjust accordingly. Might correct the issue. If not, they are available to replace and not expensive. You will need a lifter removal tool, however, as they sit way down in the head in this I6 engine unlike an overhead cam engine. Tool isn't expensive either.
Hello 71fold I have only driven it about 200 miles since the last oil change?? It’s been down for some interior repairs?? Thanx
Thanx Constable! I’ll try to see if I can make that happen does the engine need to be pulled?? Those tools I don’t have!!
