Swapping a 289 to replace a 250 l6

Ok will do.
I'll work on fixing trans cooler lines, carb, master cylinder, brakes, starter, tires, shifter bezel, suspension and hopefully that should be it to start driving it.

 

Definitely ! I wanted soooo bad to rebuild my 250 ! The boy drove ours for 3 years as we worked on it, did all the things you mentioned to get er going.

 

I have been debating on keeping the 250 but I feel like a v8 may be better. Will use the 250 for a few years though.

 

I went back n forth for Three years..lol even got a 289 for it a year ago.. but then decided to keep 250, got this book n was going to do all those mods to motor, but cracked block n cracked head, and now the 289 just got boiled n it's junk to !

 

so are you going to get another 250 or just do a 302 swap? I am also debating on keeping this a 250, with all 4 drums, and factory suspension. ps will be a daily driver

 

I looked for another 250 but had a line on a 79 302, so going that route, at the machinist now.. iv got just factory disk up front, drum in the back, might do an upgrade there..were not getting to crazy on suspension, good new moug upper/lower arms, springs and perch's a couple more things but getting by in that 500 range..

I would... Ours did fine with the 250 and 45 year old suspension. Post some pics if ya get a chance..get that book it's awesome ! It has a boatload of info ! And very user-friendly...

 

Maybe upgrade brakes and front suspension stuff is really straight forward to replace if or as needed...

yeah thinking of getting this stuff from brazil and painting it this color. Also want to paint the tail panel, under hood, under trunk, and door jambs gloss black.

 

That's wild...we were going to go modern dodge/ jeep blue but went old school grabber blue, have seen the stripe kit and like it alot, are the sill plates n grill expensive ?

I'll check them out... we just got that done ! Gotta take glass out to do beltline strips so we tinted while out...
