Question for anyone who has a factory floor shift automatic car and headers. I was looking at putting in a new exhaust for my car. I have a factory floor shifter and I was originally looking at putting long tube headman headers in the car but likely going with shorties. Can you run the shorty headers while using the factory column rod? Likely going to use 2.5” exhaust.
Doesn't the stock floor shift use the rod as a means to lock the shifter in park when the key is off?
The factory floor shifter setup uses a rod to help change the neutral safety switch on the column and locks the column. That’s why the have the double sided transmission lever.
Okay, on column/shifter, how would it effect header install? I have not had any issues with headers other than pitman arm contact on left turn. I thought neutral switch on transmission housing?
It is on factory floor shift cars. I added the factory set up to mine and left the neutral safety on the column and added the column rod which still activates the switch. I may just put the switch on the transmission to avoid issues.
