Managed to test fit the interior in place and get the dash adhered to the interior tub in just the right position. Before I went any further I did one more stance check to make sure that it was where I wanted it.........and .....although I might raise it in the front juuuuuuuuuuuuust a tad.....it is where I want it.

Well......I knew I was gonna need to have more room topside the engine bay so that the air cleaner wouldn't contact the hood so I got to thinkin..... [IMG] . I've got the AMT GT-500 kit in the stash with a good factory scoop on it but the hood wouldn't interchange with the regular Mustang because the nose piece on the GT-350 is longer. So why not just use the scoop? So I went to work and scribed the cut out area that I needed to start removing the scoop from the GT-350 hood.

All cut out and ready for trimming up to the sides of the scoop:

A slight bit of clean up remains but I just sanded up to the sides and the sanded the front from the bottom till I was able to remove the areas right in front of the air intake

A little more clean up and I'll start working this into the hood after I cut out the opening in the Fastback hood for the air cleaner to sit up into.

Love the hood treatment Joe. That's gonna be a good color for this car, cant wait to see it all cut/buffed.

I'm using a Badger 350 airbrush and MCW (model car world) lacquer. Stuff lays down nice n' smooth when going on but care has to be taken not to get a wet coat with it. Will cover that in the next update. I appreciate you following along and for the comments potna.

Been a modeler here since childhood. Started out in control line way back in the day, graduated into RC boats and aircraft for last half century. I can appreciate the time and effort in getting the kind of results you have displayed in this thread. GREAT WORK MAN! :thumbs2:

    Thanks mojo.

I had a couple of the old Testors control line birds and aaallllmost got into RC but I already know how I am.......if I'm in...then I'm ALL in. Plastic modeling is my passion and as much as I'd really like to have that RC Fw190 D-9 to fly around.....I'm gonna have to stay with the static stuff.

I'm strongly rooted in aviation and it'd be cool to see some of your aircraft.

Cool! My Dad was instrumental in getting a local model airplane club, the Lafayette Cloud Jockeys, started that went from the old line control planes to R/C. He built quite a few over the years and worked his way up to a quarter scale R/C rig with a chainsaw engine for power. He would haul it to the field tied down to a small, flat utility trailer which almost always messed with traffic! Here's a couple of pictures of his twin engine plane, one of his last. I don't remeber what size engines it used. It even had fuselage and wing lights.

I had chance take a pic of few of my aircraft. The blue one on tight has several hundred flights and built in 1991, my favorite flyer. I have 3 more, two are seaplanes. SAM_1320.JPG SAM_1316.JPG SAM_1318.JPG SAM_1319.JPG

Alright gang. Been away for a while longer than I thought I would but I'm ready to start posting on this bad boy again.
Lost my mom in late January to Covid pneumonia and have been caught up with all that since. Things are getting to a more even keel these days and I've actually been on this build for the last few weeks so I thought I'd give an update.

Well.....I knew I was gonna need to have more room topside in the engine bay so that the air cleaner wouldn't contact the bottom of the hood so I got to thinkin.....[IMG].....I've got the AMT GT-350 in the stash with a good factory hood scoop on it but the hood wouldn't interchange with the regular Mustang hood because the nose on the GT-350 is longer which means the hood on that car is longer. So...why not just use the scoop? I went to work and scribed the cut out area that I needed to start removing the scoop from the GT-350 hood.

A slight bit of clean up remains but I just sanded and filed up to the sides and then sanded the front from the bottom till I was able to remove the areas right in front of the air intake.

Still got a little more working in and a small amount of clean up left to do but the hood scoop is now on .......and I was able to cut the opening out for the air cleaner to sit up inside of on the bottom of the hood.

So sorry to hear about your Mom passing.

Very nice job on the hood scoop.
