Off eBay a couple of years ago. It seems the stock is going down on them. Not to many listed on ebay now. I guess that's why the prices are up. BTW, mine is not black.

At the rate we're going they'll double in price again soon. I did see one on ebay for 150 and a couple at 169 on google. Either option is a steal compared to a just dashed rebuild.
Those dash pad prices are pretty good considering it costs $600 (plus shipping) to send your original out to be rebuilt. If you're restoring a car to get your money back out of it, a Maverick/Comet is the wrong car for that. In any case and with any car, a cracked dash pad hurts the value...
It all depends on what you want. A dash cap will never look as good as a reproduction, and a reproduction, although close, will never look as good as an original. None are bad choice as long as your're pleased with the results.
In my case Just Dashes did mine back in 2002. Although the quality and color is excellent, the edges on the transition from vertical to horizontal are more rounded and not as sharp. I have not seen a current reproduction one to see how those are.
I think how far you like to go in to your car I repair my dash pad it come out beautiful but I wanted to go a little bit more far I upholstered the pad and it come out much better 30 Dls in material
