It was awhile back but I seem to recall using the defrost and center vent adapter from the kit, but swapped the lower dash vent adapters because the Mustang ones were round not rectangular. I used aluminum tape for residential ac to hold it on because I did not want to glue it. They also swapped out the ac controls for the ez cable integrator. This is a Mustang kit so there is some simple fab that must be done. Notch the bottom of the defrost diffuser so the adapter openings are not obscured. The center vent adapter is the same size as the center vent. I made a template and cut some aluminum sheet to fit inside the vent and also inside the adapter. It fit into the center vent and I used aluminum tape to hold the two together. I picked up a couple of metal straps from the fencing dept. at Lowes to support the front of the box to the dash. Although not necessary I added aluminum screen to the bottom of the metal dash before attaching the defrost duct so trash, bugs, coins, ect., would not get into the unit.
Perfect! All those are fairly straight forward mods, the photos are extremely helpful. Challenge will be doing it with the dash in but it looks feasible. Does the condenser radiator that comes with the kit fit into the stock maverick location?
It will fit in front of the radiator like the factory one, but you will need to fab some brackets to hold it in position.
Perfect sounds like this a good kit to go with. Not too worried about fab work. Anything aftermarket requires it these days lol.
Are the AC lines that are included in the kit the correct length or did you need to get custom lines?
I was looking on their website and I didn’t see a part to convert the manual controls. Did you modify the included switch or is there a separate piece you buy?
What controls are you talking about, the ac controls? If you want to use the factory controls with the ez cables, you will need to get the factory controls for a heater only car from someone if you don not already have one.
I was talking about the EZ cables. I wasn’t sure if the kit came with the EZ cables or if you had to buy them separately. I actually have several of the hearted controls so that won’t be a problem.
I have a GenIV in my car. I used the Vintage Air sliders to control it from the factory control arms.
I had to talk to them. They replaced the kit controls with the EZ cables. I cannot remember if they charged for it or not.
I thought i saw someone post on a FB group a mustang one that had the control knobs right by the air vent. One on the left and one on the right. I cant find it now.
Ordered the kit today, 8-10 week shipping time. $2100 later… I’ll post a photo of the kit list in case anyone else down the road wants to use the kit. I’ll update with installation photos and tips for others.
You can mount them anywhere. Guys with small, narrow street rods put them in the trunk. Especially easy with a trunk mounted battery. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NRKD27...olid=3TY9IYOXSF18G&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
