Hello everyone, i'm trying to purchase some hinges with a spring for my 71 Comet, i just want to be able to open the hood without relying on a prop to keep it open all the time. Can anyone recommend some i can install without making modifications. Thank you all

I've seen where some have just drilled a hole in one hinge and put a thumb bolt in it. wind can't blow hood up to unlatch it.

That's the way I have mine. I sometimes still use the prop rod even with the pins installed.
I also have a pair of F150 hood air springs I want to adapt to the hinges, just never seem to get to it...

Can you please take a picture of your hinge with the thumb bolt and post it here. I would like to try and install that.

Barry, that prop rod assist ain't a bad idea. I was at a show down in Fla. and it started to rain . A Guy came along trying to help close hoods and didn't see the pin. he tweaked a couple of hard times on the hood before he saw it.

I started using the pins after a gust of wind blew the hood up, dislocated the rod, and then the hood slammed down.
