does anyone know which glove box lock works with the aftermarket glove box that was produced for the 1971 Maverick and later on copied by Joe of Maverick Comet restoration? Would it be the D3DZ- 6243507-B factory part number for the glove box and trunk lock combination set? Thanks

No, I would buy a factory one. I have one with the trunk lock included.

    PM if you want it.

I thought that the D3Dz-B lock set was the factory part.

The style for the consolette will work.

Best bet might be to contact Joe as he made the part.

I seem to recall it is an early Mustang part.

It could be. I checked the tumblers on mine and found no part #. The ones was pulled from a 75.

No doubt the original part number for Mav/Comet glove box door lock is D3DZ-6243507-B.

Does it fit aftermarket door? No idea.

Do you have an original or the reproduction? The original uses a much smaller lock. The reproduction uses the larger early mustang lock IMG_9884.jpeg IMG_9885.jpeg IMG_9886.jpeg

does the early mustang lock fit the smaller hole? Mine must be an original because the hole is small.

When double sided keys were introduced in mid '60s until '70s, most models used same basic glovebox & trunk locks. For trunk, the link from lock to latch mechanism did vary in length(I have a '67 Galaxie lock set in my Cobra, reused original linkage). In '73-ish Ford started using twist vs push glove box lock that is very different from previous.

The Scott Drake set above appears not to supply linkage I mentioned.
