Unlike the C4 it replaced, my T5 has seperate switches for the neutral safety and backup lights.. I purchased T5 switch pigtails for both tranny mounted switches. There are four wires that come into the square plug at the firewall, two red with a blue stripe, a white(pink str) and a black (pink or red str). I'm assuming when the tranny is in neutral, the 2 red (blue str) wires have continuity to the S post of the solenoid. Do the white and black wires trigger the back up light?
I have since discovered that CJ Pony parts sells a Mustang harness for T5 conversions that is a direct fit to the Maverick connector!
Let us know how long it takes to get your harness from CJ's. Their service has really gone down hill the past few years. Their store is not far from my place, they never seem to have stock in anything you try to buy.
It's actually coming from an outfit called MCM Products, an Ebay vendor. Their price was identical to that of CJ and the shipping was free. CJ wanted $24 shipping and handling, a rediculous fee considering Harrisburg is only 4 hours from me.
Received the harness and installed it. Designed for a Mustang, but fit the Maverick perfectly. Shift the T5 into reverse and the backup lights illuminate. Turn the key, it cranks. The neutral safety circuit is shunted in the harness, but one could easily wire it into the neutral safety stub harness on the T5. I'm satisfied without the feature since my first Maverick never had it.
