As the title says. My 250 never had problems. But 1 day is started to what is sort of like dieseling but not really. It starts and runs fine but once it's hot. Shutting it down. It acts weird. Just for a second then shuts completely off. I've tried timing but hasn't made any difference. Pretty much everything is stock. Any ideas? I'm thinking maybe the carburetor
Temp gauge reads around 190. I don't even really know how to describe what it's doing really. Not really dieseling but kinda like that. It's just for a second or 2 when I turn the key. It sounds like terrible mechanical stuff breaking. Only once it shot the vacuum caps off the nipples but hasn't since
Manual or auto ? Mine has a solenoid that sets idle, that way it doesn't run on. If you have that, maybe you need to adjust. If you have auto, turn key off in gear and see if it helps.
It's an it's an auto. I'll have to try turning it off in gear when I get a chance. What would cause that just bad carb set up? I've been troubleshooting for about a month now
What gas are you using? If it blew the vac caps, then you no doubt have run on(dieseling). If it's running OK, other than excessive idle speed I doubt you have a carb problem.
Mine does something similar at times. When I go to shut it off it kinda almost sounds likes its going to keep running for a second then shuts off.
I normally use 87 octane from Sheetz. I ordered a vacuum gauge hoping the carb is out of wack. It only acts up when it's up to temp. If I go to move the car out of the garage not really warmed up it shuts off completely fine.
My 250-6 does the same thing. I was told it was the ethanol blended into fuels these days. I shut the car while it is still in gear.
