Hello maverick community! I am pretty new to the Maverick, but not Fords in general, so my question is around the rarity of my car. Its a 72 Grabber maverick 2X93F vin, which I deducted is a V8 car. It's a V8 auto with Air from what I can see, as the car has been plucked of lots of parts. The floors are also shot and its a little crusty, but overall pretty straight and very restorable. I would love to know how rare it is and would it be wise to bring it back to the road. Thanks! Anthony
Mavericks are not really rare cars. The only "rarity" is dependent on how many are left after 50+ years. The Grabber is a trim package, not a performance package. It does fetch a bit more money than the standard Maverick, but if it's rotted, it's not necessarily worth the time and expense of restoration...
I got my report from Kevin yesterday, I didn't think to add the personal breakdown. I was curious to know if a car with that many factory options was rather rare. The floor pans are rusted out as is the trunk floor in the usual manner, but the rest of the car, torque boxes and everything else are very solid. not really sure what I'll do with it, just seemed odd for an economy car to be that fully optioned. With A/C no doubt cuts out abundance of it's lesser brethren. With 35,347 Grabbers built for 1972, even if only 8% had A/C that's still 2800+ cars. Base price of a Grabber was $2427(I am using 1973 prices), A/C $372.... 302 $122, automatic another $177. That takes options to $671 and no doubt there were others(radio P/S, tint etc). That's roughly 30% added on. Restoring the A/C to factory is all but impossible. Value because of options it had means very little.
