Trying to decide what to do on the '72 comet. Here's my 3 choices;in other words, what I've got lying around.
    magnum 500's-14x6 & 14x7
    comet dogpans/trimrings on 14x6 & 14x7 rims
comet dogpans on 14x5 & 14x7 rims painted white to match the car.
all will have 225/70 on rear/195/75 or 205/70 front.Kinda leaning toward the dogpan/white wheel combo.

Out of your choices I like the magnums best.

I have been trying to figure out what to do on my Comet too, What size tire would work all the way around with 16 inch wheels, and what width would the wheel need to be, also 17's can anyone advise on this, I have thought of losing the hubcaps and rings altogether and going with the widest tire ( same size all the way around) and running with chrome lug nuts with the wheels repainted glossy black. On the stock wheel what is the widest size I can go all around, anyone know? Oh and mine has 5 bolt rims. Also When talking about back spacing is that built into the wheel or is that referring to an actual spacer you buy separately? These pizza cutters gotta go

It would be cool if we had a chart/quick reference guide posted for tires, rims, that would have notes for back spacing, sizes, and possibly comments on modifications for certain sizes. Even cooler would be having something like the tire rack has, You can put in your make and model and year, and even trim level, and color, and then click a wheel and seee how it looks!! I don't want much do I. . he he.

    Just my .02...
245/60s work very well out back.
I have them on 14x6 steel rims. Fill out very nice.
If you are using 14x7 on the back, they would be perfect.
That is an aweful wide rim for 225s, IMO.

I meant 225/70,the 245/60 is almost too short. But yea they(the 60 series) look good out back,I've run them before on several of my cars.
