hi I have a 76 maverick that was in storage since 1985,I bought it in 1996 and stored it untill last week. The 250 started and runs like a new one.I also have a mustang ii that I have had since I was 17.For now my question for anyone is about the sprint cars.I'm 32 and was in a conversation with a older man in our local car club who said they are all 8 cyl.I have seen that the maverick could be a 6 or 8.The big thing is he says his pinto is a factory 302 4 speed 1972 sprint. Is this a possible combo ?I can not find any facts to say it was ever built. Well I hope this is not to off topic for a maverick forum, thanks
Only the Shelby Pinto's had the V8's. No V8's were ever put in Pintos from the factory (as far as I recall or am aware). Sprint Mavericks came with the 6 or the 8. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong - but I'm pretty sure I'm right (well, maybe not about the Shelby Pinto)
No factory v8's for Pinto's only 4's and v6's. I always thought it would be cool to install an old Flathead v8 in one though.
Not all Sprints are V8s either. You could get the standard engine, or any optional engine. That means the Mav used either the standard I6 or optional 302. The Stang used the standard I6, or one of a few optional V8s. Then the Pinto would have had 2 I4s to choose from... Even the V6 Pinto was not available in 72, so no 6 or 8 in a Sprint.
1. It is off-topic (we have an Off Topic forum for that). 2. No Pinto ever came from the factory with a V-8. 3. Pintos suck. ...
I figured the car was a put together, and someone here would know for sure.Next time i'll put these type of things in the off topic forums and come to think of it i've never heard anyone eles brag up a pinto including myself.
I like pintos too!!! It's a 2600-2700 lb front engine rear drive car with plenty of room for a V8 or turbo 4 cylinder or whatever else you want in there. What's not to like? I like the way the early runabouts look too.
sounds like something a chevy guy would say for someone with such strong anti-pinto feelings im suprised he made his way into the world of mavericks. there really not that diffrent, just a little smaller and slightly diffrent looks.
Actually, mechanically, they are quite different. He was able to incorporate the bold key in each of the three points though, which is nice.
I had a 72 pinto that came with a V8.......I removed it and put in a 2.0 liter four to save gas......
