we are going to have to put a scoop on the hood because the carb is far to high up for the hood to close
You'll pick up quite a bit more HP and acceleration and ET if you go with a good built C4... but that C6 shouldnt ever tear up from strain on it in that light car
The main problem is traction. I guess the 185/70R13 tires on the stock Fiat 13 inch magnesium wheels have a hard time gripping the road with a strong 302 under the hood. A WRX STi wanted to mess around on the way home from work today. He jumped me off the line due to the above mentioned traction problem (I should have took off in second instead of first), but it took me about three seconds to catch him. I shifted to second and matted it and passed him. Let it run out a little in second and when he started creeping up I grabbed third and pulled away again up until about 80 mph when I ran out of gear, damn old three speed with the 4.56 gears. I shut it down and of course he went flying past me. My ears are still ringing from the exaust. At the next light we talked for a few seconds, he wanted to know what kind of car and what was in it (He asked if it was a Triumph at first). Said he knew what his next project car would be.
Not getting traction always sucks. Taking off in second or easing off the line always helps... or even better... racing from a rolling start To bad you can't always do that tho
Don't you Miles boys have a spare tube chassis laying around that you can throw underneath that beast?
we are working on the back brakes. I figure after we get the brakes fixed dad will brake the rearend. We also need to put some different springs under the front. I wish I would have found it first. I would have put the motor in my 1972 Maverick daily driver
this car gets absolyely no traction. i am not even going to say what i ran at the strip. Dad was driving it and no matter what he did it just spun. guess its time to build up and 8 inch with 5.43 gears and a spool
right now its just little 13' inch tires. when the 8 inch is under their it will get slicks, not sure how wide though
Interesting thread... Can't believe I missed it. We need pics though. You can't tell us about a neat little project like this and NOT PUT PICS! Didn't they make a TR8? I know some Triumphs had an Olds, or was it Buick, V8. A few MGs even got them! British Leyland put them in all sorts of vehicles until BMW bought them out a few years back. What was left of BL anyway... pretty much just Land Rover at that point. Did you ever get the car registered? Alabama doesn't use titles on cars older than 15 or 20 years old... You should be fine to register the car with a bill of sale.
