Your talking about cosmoline. They still use it as a rust preventative today - especially on cars being shipped from overseas. It's a goldish color, wax-like product when dry. It cleans off easy with something like engine degreaser. They sprayed the whole car with cosmoline before wrapping it with multiple layers of material. I know it was wrapped in foil and then the vacuum sealed bag.

The cans were rusted out. But the funny thing about it is that they found one of the cans had been opened. Someone must have drank it right before putting it in the car.

Anybody remember the baseball Game of the Week, announcer Dizzy Dean, and that Schlitz was his primary sponsor?

Why a '98? It's already used, and this is 2007...

Yes, they buried the Prowler in '98. I work about a mile from where it's buried. But, they did it a lot different than the Belvedere. The Prowler time capsule isn't really buried. It's maybe 1/4 in the ground and the rest has had dirt piled on top of it - so it looks like a small mound. Also, it's enclosed in a plastic box that has been pressurized with some sort of gas.

    I'd rather have a nice '57 Belvedere than a '98 Prowler...

Me too. I'm not really a big fan of the prowler. I wish they had buried something else.
Speaking of....they're supposed to bury something later this year. I wonder what it will be. A 300? Charger?
