I decided on this tire make and model. I already have the frt 24540r17. The Rear ones 27540r17 are back ordered but I should have them in a couple weeks.

    Some progress made.

Interesting tread pattern, should have some good traction. Not a fan of the big 17" wheels though, my preferance would have been 15", but I'm old school anyway. Hope they fit with no problems for you.

I'm not into the huge wheel thing either, but I like 17s. They're really not all that big. They look good...

I've seen some 17's on the Mustangs, the Bullet style 5 spokes that look pretty good. My F 150 and my PT Cruiser both have 16's on them, they look ok on the truck, 245/75/16, but the ones on the PT don't have enough sidewall for me, 255/65/16. I guess that's my main beef with the bigger sizes, I like a tire with a good sidewall....

I am a firm believer that there is a happy medium when it comes to aspect ratio of a tire. Too tall of a sidewall will flex too much, which is not good for handling. Too short of a sidewall looks lame (I can't stand a tire that looks like a black rubber band around the rim), causes a harsh ride, and actually increases the risk of busting the tire when hitting a deep chuck-hole in the road (or in the unfortunate event of smacking a curb). I like something in between...

They are the tire I need for my intended purposes. I will have a spare set of cheapie rims and slicks for the track. My main intentions are building a maverick that handles as good as it can. Some day I will get around to building a drag car that will hold it's own. For now I want an all around car. That will hang with vipers/vettes/mpdified mustangs on all levels and look great doing it.
