Hey folks I want to know which tire size should I get for a set of wheels, I'd like having 15X6 on the front and 15X7 or 15X8 on the rear. I don't know what offset and backspacing are the needed for mavs and don't know which tires would fit without hitting the fenders. I want a nice stance, for a daily driver without looking like a 12 second street car, hope you can help me here! Thanks!
I run 15x8 with 4" backspacing on the rear. Tires are 255r60s. Front is 15x7 with 215r60s. Looks good in my opinion.
Everyone will have a different opinion on this! Heck, many Mavericks don't even use the exact same maximum backspace due to production tolerances. Some cars can take 4.5" BS, while some will rub the leaf springs over 4" BS. My opinion: 15x5 or 15x6 up front. 15x7 out back. Tires should be kept to no less than 25.5" tall, no more than 27" tall. Front BS with 6" rim should be between 3" and 3.5". Rear BS with 7" rim should be between 4" and 4.25". For rear tires, I think a few would pass: 245/60 255/60 265/50 275/50 275/60 will fit too with care, but is a little tall for my taste. Up front, I like 215/65.
B.F. Goodrich has EVERYTHING on backorder. I talked to BFG directly and they said that they are moving the molds to a different factory. I have heard it is in Romania or something. Bottom line.....if they are not in stock.....they are impossible to get. I called all over the country and Canada to try and find a set. Ended up driving an hour from my house to get the last two in the country.
I see now that Summit shows an estimated shipping date of the last week in July for them. Oh well, it will probably be that long until I am ready to drive it anyway.
That was what everyone was TELLING me.......but "on the side" they were telling me they had no idea when or if they would be available. I am just glad I got what I needed.
well, sorry for bumping this thread again, but I found out that slot mags are only 15X7 and 15X8 with 4.0 and 4.5 for backspace respectively...will those fit the mav??? I already got the tires, if that helps lol
The 4.5" backspacing on the 15x8s may cause the tires to rub the leaf-springs or frame rail. Then again, they may not. It's a gamble...
and if that happens what would be the solution??? a wheel spacer would do the job? EDIT: BTW the tires I got are 215/60/15 and 255/60/15 for 15X7 (4 backspace) and 15X8 (4.5 backspace)
15x7 on 4" BS is way cool and perfect fit. On the rear anyway. You can't find any narrower ones for the front?
He doesn't need narrower ones for the front. He needs narrower ones for the rear, or less backspace...
