i got this friend who a few months ago bougt a '97 nissan 240 of ebay for $12,000. it was a retired drift car. has some bad ass japanese I4 turbo, intercooled, roll cage, body kit, carbon fiber hood. but the car really is fast as hell. i feel like im riding in a roller coaster in the damn thing and it runns a low 12 in the 1/4. so for a japanese 4 cylinder its really not that bad. so anyway about a month ago he slides out and the dr side of his car hits up against a curb. for the past month ive been helping him rebuild the suspension on that side, well basically ive been doing all the work and he's been buying all the nos pieces from the local nissan dealership. so i changed out the rear lower controll arm, both of the front lower control arms, the tie rods and i guess you would call it the sub frame cross member brace thing? long bar that goes across the bottom of the engine bay that the motor mounts, lower controll arms and steering rack all bolt to. i did about all that plus some over the past 3-4 week off and on. so tonight we go out rolling to all the local tuner spots. i figured i could get an inside look at what everyone else was running. his car was pretty much out of their league anyway. but hes standing there telling everyone what happened and where he's been and im standing there chillin. then he starts getting into all the work HE did to it and i can understand him braging about getting his car back on the road but he sat there for like 20 minutes talking about all the work he put into that car(even though he bought it that way) and then hes talking about all the work he did to it getting it back on the road. that whole time he doesnt even introduce me or even give a nod my way for even helping with the whole process. dont get me wrong, im no glory hound here but that thing would be sitting up on blocks still in his drive way if it wasnt for me, or he would have at least had a body shop bill for 3 grand in labor. i guess ricers really are @$$holes lol

the car its self though is really nice for being a ricer. being a RWD uni-body car it seemed very simular to the underside of my maverick. the independent rear was a little new to me but it was just like having front suspension on the back. i can honestly say i learned alot lol. so if anybody out there even needs a hand with a nissan 240 give me a holla.
sorry no carnige pics but this is what it looked like when he got it off ebay

I had a 280 Z, same basic car, I guess. Small, rear wheel drive, independent rear suspension, but with more HP (not more than this car, just more than the 240 stock).

They are fun little cars with plenty of power.

All that said, your buddy is an ungrateful @$$ to not share that you helped, and to take credit for the bulk of the work.

I think it is perfectly acceptable to say, "I bought this car from a winning drifter, and did some extra mods to it" but not to take credit for all of it.

By the way, I cannot wait to get a chance to take my Mav to an empty mall parking lot and practice "drifting". I hope there are some ricers watching so I can show them how a REAL car sounds and handles, and teach them how to do a REAL burnout(y)

BUT, I will never tell you guys that I just got home from a drifting contest...ShadowMaster would hunt me down and beat the tar out of me if I said that:p

yea well the way he drives im sure thats not going to be the last time that car meets with a sudden impact. only diffrence is he's going to have to put up some green to make it worth my while to put it back together for him.

ohhh you gotta hear this, lmao. back when he wrecked it he thought the body was totaled and there be no way to get it straight. i thought that too when i seen the way that front tire was tucked up sideways inder thae car. anyway when that happened he kept nagging me to buy my maverick off of me. and im thinking to myself WTH does this kid see in my maverick right? so i asked him what do you want with an old ford anyway/ i thought youd be out shopping for hondas or something? he told me he wants to take his turbo nissan engine and stick it in an old ford car. a said what gave you that idea? he said, well didnt you see fast and the furious 3? they put a nissan engine in that piece of crap mustang and it was sooo cool!

i was laughing my @$$ off!

I was wondering where he was, that was why I tossed his name out there.

Sometimes, you just have to let your friends rant. At that time, it is often better to pretend that you don't know who the know-it-all is.

yea like i said, i really wasnt trying to get anything out of the guy by helping him out. i know what its like to be stuck at home with something wrecked sitting out in the drive way but i really felt disrespected by the guy after that.

Actually, I read in the magazine, it was actually running a Ford engine. They just made you think it was a Nissan engine in the car.

yea they built a running driving mustang powered by a nissan engine but the one used in filiming the race scene had a 500+ci windsor.

I would not consider that car a ricer at all. Car looks nice to me, and sounds like it runs great. Ricers are the opposite of that.

That said, if I had a friend like that, I would throw him under the bus in front of all his buddies and not talk to him again. Shows you what kind of person he really is.

yea i guess you wouldnt call it a "ricer" in the way you would think of a 10 year old honda 4 dr with a loud muffler but all the kids driving a honda like that wish they had a car like that ^^
