My first was my grannies '70 LTD,it was given to me at 15.I bought my first car,a '73 Grabber that was really rusty, for $400 about the same time.At 17 I bought my cousins '70 F100,so I was one of a few at school that owned more than one vehicle, even if they all were "old Fords".

my first one was the '85 cutlass supreme i still have today. it was my mom's daily driver but she had bought a new escort around the time i was 15 and just let me have the olds. the first car i ever bought was 2 weeks later. it was a 1976 delta 88 4 door. rusted to crap but the old man really took care of it under the hood. so that 350 sb oldsmobile replaced the 307 in the cutlass.

back when i was that age i wanted a "tuner" like all the other kids my age but being broke i had to work with what i had. so i went out there and got to work and developed a love for it and at the same time a really fast car that ironically could beat the pants off all the local ricers :)

My first car was a 71 Plymouth 'cuda (in 1986). I paid $200.00 for it and it wasnt running. I got it running and it would smoke the M-50s for a block. It was a 340 automatic. Metalic olive green with a white interior. Sadly, I drove that car to complete destruction.

My wifes first car was a light green 4 door Maverick. I6, automatic. She was on her second car when I met her. It was a dark metallic green 77 Maverick 2 door. I-6 with three speed on the column. Sadly, I drove that car to complete destruction as well.

I wish I still had them, but they have gone to the big wrecking yard in the sky. Anyway, I think the cars we have now are a bit nicer.:yup:

I got my first car in 1978, my Mom's 70 Maverick she bought new in 70.

A no-optioned 6 cyl. auto....great car, but at the time, hardly an impressive "rod" for a high school guy.

I drove the Mav for a little over a year, then bought a 70 Mustang Mach-1 fastback....had to sell the Maverick.

That was 30 years and over 150 cars ago.

Now I've got a couple of Mavs to play with again.....do some of the stuff I woulda/shoulda done back then

My first car was a 1974 Buick Regal, 350 4 barrel, Man that car would fly, it was so full of holes when you did a burn out the car would fill with smoke. It was like the one in the picture, but Brown with a Tan top.

My 1st one was a 64 Dodge Dart, slant six with the push button automatic. Had big plans for the car till somebody failed to yield the right of way and totaled it on me. Anyway, I tried a couple of 64 Chevy II's before finding my 1st 65 Mustang Fastback at 16. By the time I was 18 I had already been thru 4 more Mustangs...then I got my 1st Maverick in 1974...still got it. I have owned more than 70 different Mustangs (45 at once in the early 80's) and have had some 25-30 Mavericks/Comets (presently 10). I'll not take the time to itemize them though...gotta go to bed some time tonight. :)

My first car was a '61 Studebaker Lark wagon, 6cyl, 3spd and kite string for piston rings. A 75$ wonder that I wish I still had. But, the floor, doors and roof were rusted through, so it was an adventure to drive. Miss that car!

I absolutely love these kinds of threads, I took over payments on my parents '72 Newport, My brother had taken over the other '72 newport the year before. His was a custom which was a beautiful Dark blue over light blue with bucket backs to the bench seat with an arm rest, Mine was the most God awful yellowish tan color with old lady designed seat fabric you know the kind that looks like the living room curtains! Remember flipping the aircleaner cover over for better intake? Anyway
My brother's power steering went out, and he drove that beast that way for several months before Mom and Dad took him car shopping. Well I went along and guess what, I spotted a mint condition, '75 4 door Maverick with very Dark blue vinyl over wimbledon white. Well they let me deal on that car because my mother had a " Bring back Olive green 2 door 1970 edtiion Mav with a 302! My brother was prety steamed that day because he was the one that was supposed to get a car. Ironically that day I had also looked at a 70 2 Door Cutlass green in color, I always wonder if the bank had loaned on a 10 year old car and if I bought that Cutlass would I be a ... (God forbid ) Gm guy? anyway I too lost the first car I picked out and bought to a Guy in a pinto with bad brakes, moved the front clip of the mav over about 6 inches!!
Here's my lifetime list of cars

    '72 Newport

'66 Ford Galaxie Wagon - better quality at 90k and 17 years old than any Mopar I've owned

'83 Renault Alliance.. $800 'nough said there
'80 AMC Spirit surprisingly this car reminded my of my old Mav somehow?
'83 Mazda 626 ( this is the car that marked for me and the EX wife a turning point though we paid only $800 from an estate sale this car was the " nicest "we had ever owned after getting married.
New *94 Galant, * didn't own this one , Won the use of it for a year from the Credit Union in a contest. Drove the 626 to pick it up and the entire exaust fell off the Mazda in the parking lot... ( never try to tell me there is no God)
