You think that's sad? The Orange '70 fastback in the background of this picture:

That is a factory 428 Cobra Jet '70 Mach 1, orange with red interior. And the white Cougar is a factory 428 Cobra Jet XR7 that supposedly has nearly every option that was available. It has red interior also. I won't mention the rest of the Mustangs around there...

That is a neat truck. It's a '59. Has a 429 4V engine in it with C6 trans. It belonged to my great grandpa, who died in 1993. It's been off the road since the late 80's.

No...what's SAD is the fact that they are STILL sitting there. Those cars need to be dragged out and put on eBay to see if there is someone out there willing to save them. It's obvious that the present owner has no intentions of ever doing anything with them. Why just let them sit there and rust away to the point where they are only their weight in scrap metal? Hmmm...$50-$100 in weight later on...$1000 or more in possible value now.
Wouldn't take ME long to figure out what to do with them. If he wants them towed out of his way for nothing, let me know. :(

This has been being said for years. It is unfortunate, that they will just continue to sit there. You know, until "some day" (haven't we all heard that before) comes along. My grandpa is selling his cars, you'll see them on ebay soon (with extreme protest from my uncle, needless to say). Unfortunately, the cars pictured belong to my uncle (along with the '69 and '70 Boss 302's), and he has no intentions of ever getting rid of them. He calls that Mach 1 "his baby". One has to question, if it's his "baby", why in the HELL is it sitting there like that? :hmmm: It's not my place to say anything to him...

I've never been in that type of situation Jamie but I know that if I were I would be brutally honest. So honest to the point that they may get mad but I would point blank say that he's going to let them rust to nothing rather then find them a good home with someone who will restore their luster. Sorry to hear he isn't more reasonable. :(

I think the other two are his uncles and he is being uncooperative and letting them rot away. :(

i hate when people realize the cars too far goen before they try to sell it.

my friend had an '85 cutlass sitting in his drive way fro a few years because of a busted brake line no one was motivated enough to fix. i offered him $500 and my running drivable yet rusted out monte carlo for it and he turned me down. he called me up a few months ago, i guess he needed the money. now the doors and body are all rusty and i honestly dont have any use for it. i said i'd give him $200 and he flipped out on me.

I do not have the money to even think about buying those cars. My uncle is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about Mustangs, especially rare ones. He knows what he has, and it would probably take more then they are worth to buy them. Turns my stomach as much as anyone else to see them sit there. I'm just glad my grandpa has decided to let his go (the '70 Boss 429, '68 1/2 factory 428CJ GT, and '71 Boss 351). My grandpa has pretty much decided to clear out all his stuff, including the many rare old motorcycles he has (my boss just bought two Triumphs off him, and is buying his XR750 Harley factory race bike).

Has he got a buyer for the Boss 429 yet? If not, do you know what he's gonna ask? It still hurts to think about what happened to that car. :(

Yea, it still makes me sick to think about it, too. That car was so awesome, it was the one that they actually took care of and didn't let go to crap like the rest of them. There is no buyer for the car. There is a guy, who is Jackie Jones (owns all the dealerships) brother, who is very interested in the car. I was told if someone came up with in the neighborhood of $60,000, the car would be sold. And who ever buys it, must come with money in hand and leave with the car. Absolutely no tire kickers (he doesn't want anyone to know where the car is located). It is a numbers matching Boss 429, the engine was untouched in the fire, rest of the car is restoreable.

I have to ask the obvious question. If your uncle is so knowledgeable, why does he store these rare cars outside in the dirt?

It is a real shame about those two Cobra Jets, they are both rusting away sitting there in the weeds.
