Anyone running a 225/60-15 on the front of their Maverick/Comet?? I'm going to be using a 15X7 rim with a 3-1/2" back spacing, I have the back tire sized, just trying to get the front, and I don't want skinny tires on the front.
I have 225/60-14 BFG Radial TA's on 14x6 wheels on the front. I think they look just right, maybe later I will get a picture of them later.
I have 215/60r15. On my car, I think 225 would get REALLY close to hitting the front edge of the fender where it connects to the valence. But my car is nowhere near stock on suspension and ride height.
should fit fine. i ran 235/60/14s on orginal mav/comet slot mags and it cleard fine. looked good too.
Hmmm, according to B F Goodrich a 215/60-15 has a diameter of 25.2, a 225/60-15 has a diameter of 25.6, and a 235/60-14 is 25.1. All those tires are pretty close to the same size. I forgot that I've lowered my car in the front end, and was planning on cutting the springs again with the tires I had on it, I'll have to measure them and see what diameter they were, there was loads of room with them on there before.
I guess the Magnums I'm looking at have 4 3/8" backspacing on the 15X7's (for the front) and 4 1/2" on the 15X8's (for the rear), and I think the tires will be225/60-15's on the front and 235/60-15's on the rear.
I have 235/60 15's on the front of mine... I forgot if I have 6 or 7" wide rims up front though.... but they are either 3.5 or 4" backspace. and I have the front end dropped, never had them rub.
I am runnign 225/70 R14 and oddly enough the drivers side is fine but when I make a sharp left turn the passenger side front tire rub the tread against the corner of the front valence. I wanna go with 235/60 R14 on the front next time I but tires on it. The rims I am running are old Mustang GT Rims similar to the ones on Mavaholics Sprint... I was told by the previous owner that they are 8 inch rims, but was also told that it would be pretty rare if they were and that they are probably 7 inch rims... I guess I won't know for sure until I wear the tread off the tires that are on there...
i had 14x7 rims with 215 70 14 tires on them, the tire was too skinny for the rim.. if i still had the mav i would have put 225 or 235 on the 14x7
that tells me your front end is not square... something got hit in a wreck and never got fixed.. no reason for it to rub
