thought i'd sare the pics from yesterday. it was nice out so we got alot of work down. its a 91 240sx he got for $600 with a suspected blown headgasket with the intent of swapping in a upgraded turbo sr20 which according to him should get him in the 250-300hp range. youll have to excuste the muffler and rims, it was a former ricer. and the bondo spots are just dents. the car itsself is extreamly solid. i told him to research diffrent v8 swaps before he commits to anythng the car definatly has a wider engine bay then a maverick after that kid tried to take all the credit for me rebuilding his 240 after he wrecked it i kind of earned myself a good reputation among the local tuner crowd ive been friends with this kid for a while. he's also going to be in on my engine swap and is taking me over to NJ next weekend in his truck to pick up my 302 from Sam M.
So the other guy wrecked his ex-drifter 240sx??? Well, there's karma doing some justice lol Are you both guys in the same tech school???
yea, me working on that A-holes car has earned me some good press among the nissan crowd lol speaking of karma, that kid's been stuck at home for a about a month now with a siezed up turbo i think. or atleast that what ive heard, its something serious. he's trying to sell it for 6k, he bought it for 12k about a year ago actually all 3 of us go to the same college and graduated highschool together. im the only one in the actuall auto program tho
yeaaaa i guess so, but atleast now it'll be a fast one heres a few more pics from yesterday and yours truly, now ya'll can finally put a face to the name lol the owner was planning on ordering this to complete the swap. its a big investment so he still hasnt comited to anything http://www.jdmtigerjapanese.com/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=333 i havent dont much research on it but aparently they cut the whole front clip off a japanese car and ship it to canada, then you buy it from the warehouse there. it seems a little fishy to me but i could be wrong, probably some international chop shop ring lol the japanese front clip they send you is right hand drive so im thinking it would be pretty cool to swap all that over too lol here's a question i have tho. yesterday we forgot to unhook this black rubber line that went from the transmission bell housing under the car to the passenger side frame rail and on the way out that line snaped and brake fluid came out. im thinking there might have been some speed sensor in the trans that tied into the ABS but i dont think the car has abs? its a manual so there were no cooler lines and we already pulled the speedo cable which was on the other side towards the tail shaft

Cam
gotchya im too used to these automatics lol it was just a rubber flex line, the actual hard line is fine so it shouldnt make for a big deal
yea, im in del-tech community college in the automotive program. ive been tearing apart cars in the back yard since i was a kid so alot of its just review for me tho iam learning alot about the more modern stuff. so far ive just taken the basic intro class, electrical and im half way through suspension and brakes. you also have to take all the required acidemic classes as well. It's a really good program, i definatly dont regret getting into it the kid who owns this nissan is in del-tech so he can take the required accidemic classes and then transfer to the university of DE. the guy who owns the other other nissan i wrenched on was taking a mechanical enginering course last i talked to him
My first brand new car was a SR20DE powered 1998 Nissan 200SX SE-R. It was a fun car, had a great engine but started to fall apart and rust away. I sold it in 2006.
here is the scoop on the front clips from japan In Japan they have strict emissions testing. the engine is usually replaced after 24000 to 30000 miles. and a new engine is put in.. since the front clip is easier to replace, they just do the whole front clip. The engines are perfectly fine, except maybe for a few oil drips or what not. it is not a chop shop. it is all legit. i have had several friends get a 1.8 or 2.0 honda clip to put in a car. it is very straight forward. and you can usually get a entire front clip for about $1000.. do a search online. there are a few in california...
