Upon reflection and because I am now trying to see things from her perspective I am now thinking he is lucky to have had his car loved instead of trashed.

I do think she did nothing wrong and she should get something for all her care of a fine old car, but it is stolen property.

you probaly are right but people say it . if a car sits on my property for 30 days or more i can file abandoned and get a title with no problem. if something of yours is stolen you want it back if you buy something stolen not knowing you excepting to keep it

There is a big difference between an abandoned car, and a car that has been reported stolen. If you file for a title on that car that's been on your property for 30 days and it turns out to be stolen, you most certainly are not going to get a title on it and are probably going to have to answer as to what you are doing with the car in the first place.

The woman should get SOMETHING for her care and attention. It wasn't stolen by her or her father. It isn't her fault it was stolen, she shouldn't be punished for it.

And didn't she have a title? I imagine she would have to have had a title she had been using for the car for 3 decades. Maybe the STATE is responsible and should reimburse her for this tragic loss of her car to a cheap old man who probably can't even drive it anymore and will probably sell it and use the loot to buy geezer porn.

so if the police came to you today and said that the car you thought was yours was really stolen some years back. would you just freely hand your keys over. i was just saying look at the picture threw her eyes and situation and tell me you would not want to keep your car.

There's a difference between what you want and what is right and legal. Yes, we would want to keep our car if we learned that it was stolen. But, the right thing to do would be to turn it over to the authorities.

Georgia is a non title state for cars older then 1986. When you register an old car here, you have to call your local police department and have an officer come out and look at the car. The cop checks that all VIN's on the car match. They then run it through their database to determine who the last registered owner was and check to be sure that the car does not have any liens against it and has not been reported stolen. If all checks out, they fill out a form stating the car is free and clear. You get that notarized and take it to the DMV to get the car registered. I had to go through this with my '72 and '69.5 (my '74 Grabber had a title). Had either of those cars been reported stolen, I would absolutely want to return it to the rightful owner if they wanted it back. I would be sad to loose my car, but it is the right thing to do.

No, I would tell the cops f*** you and turn around and walk back in my house. Geez...you just don't get it, do you? Heck no, I wouldn't like it but you seem to be forgetting about the poor guy that paid GOOD MONEY for it when it was NEW!!! It was STOLEN FROM HIM!!! HE should get HIS car BACK!!!
