What do you guys think about this one? seems like a good deal compared to the other stuff I found online. Good trucks? never driven one before, I may call about it, and possibly look at it Saturday. Hopefully it's a 5.0, I'd rather have it over the 5.8. It's about 60 miles away from me. http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/d...=donnymills&car_id=244031277&dealer_id=575517
That air intake looks like a 5.8 to me. I prefer the 5.8 myself. Cant tell if its a 8 ft bed or 6. Again, my preference is the 8. According to NADA guides, Its below market value so might be a good bargain. Personally, I think that body style is one of the best Ford ever did. Thats why I'm on my second 96 Bronco.
I like the heck out of those trucks. The only thing I have found is that the 5.0 version doesn't like to tow regularly. On occaision it is fine. They don't have the grunt for towing, so you have to drive it accordingly. If you ever plan on towing anything, I wouldn't trust that shadetree rigging they are using for a trailer hitch. I am surprised a dealer is letting that stay on the truck. It seems like a huge liability for them to sell something like that. It is also a huge liability for the next owner if they tow with it and it fails. Someone gets hurt, that setup could be considered 10 different kinds of negligent. If the truck has a 5.8, it is likely at least a roller block, if not a straight up roller equipped engine. They only made roller blocks for the last 18 months or so of the nearly 30 year production of that engine. The roller versions have a small premium value over non-rollers. The MAF system used there also is a big plus if you like to do upgrades. 5.0 or 5.8, either one, takes to mods much easier with a MAF EFI, compared to the more common SD EFI. I agree too, IMO that is the best version of the F series Ford ever made. There are nice classics, and new trucks have an appeal for being new, but that one is just perfect.
Looks like the short bed,, I like my short bed as you are only 1-2 inches longer than a regular pick up. no real difference on 302 or 351, I liked the 351 an either engine does better if you put the egg under gas pedal ! Check out rear frame an spring hangers real good, should be good in Fla. not the problems as in Pa. Good Luck
Good point. Another reason I hate powder coating. I believe ford powder coated all these items, The coating eventually separates allowing water and crap between the coating and the metal, rusting them out. On the good side, the parts are readily available. I had to replace them on my Bronco. If the truck has been in FL all its life, should not be a problem. Might want to get the car facts report.
One of my favorite Ford trucks too, second only to the '73-79 body style.Looks clean, low miles too.Probably a good deal.
That looks like a real nice truck and a great deal. It's getting harder to find them with that kind of mileage. My dad used to have a '94 Flare Side with a 5.0. That thing would do 80 with the A/C on all day long with his Comet behind it on my grandpa's car trailer. And it certainly had no problem doing a burnout! He traded it in 2001 for a Mustang he totaled 2 weeks later. Some old man has the truck now, we still see it around here from time to time.
I called up about it. It was traded in at a new car dealer, and this dealer got it from them. It has a 5.0L not a 5.8L. They said it will need new tires. With their dealer fee, tax/tag, it's around $5000-5200 out the door. The guy on the phone said it was a 6 out of 10. I've been pursuing the 98-01 Explorers. So now I'm not sure which I should go with, I like them both 92-96 F-150's and 98-01 Explorers 5.0. Also, rust wise there's some underneath, you can see it in the wheel well picture. Is this normal probably just surface?
Ratio411 is right about the towing ...with the 5.0. My `95 has the 5.0 and it gets 12.5 mpg towing my car on the interstate. Unloaded it gets 18.5 hwy. and 12.5 city. This pic was taken on the way to the 2006 Roundup (from GA. to KY. and back) The 5.0 could definatly use some more torque! But it`ll get the job done.
Definitely looks like a good price. I just bought one for myself to use for towing a couple weeks ago. Mine does have the 5.8 and is also 4WD. It has 98K miles and runs and drives as good as it looks. Check out the paint...all 100 original...never nothing repainted.
Dayum Ray, Don, M.A.V., Those are all some nice trucks! I have a 90 F150 with the 5.0. The E4OD is dead right now, and the truck is just sitting. I like the 92-96 style better, but the 90 was handy for the right price. $0 I'd love to have a 96 Ext with 5.8. Even 4x4 like Ray's. Man that thing is sweet! Gotta think twice about 4x4 nowadays though. If you don't use it much at all, it may not be worth the toll it takes on fuel economy.
Yeah, I wasn't looking for a 4X4 but when that thing came up I had to have it. It is in amazing condition. The best thing about it was I got less than $2500 in it due to a little horse trading.
