Happened to be in a "Variety Mall" ie. consignment shop today and there I found a "Fresh Cherries" 1970 Red Ford Mav. Of course owning a 70' I had to get it. Will probably be stripping parts off the 75' for the 70' as the 75' has the blown motor and was recently sold minus carb and radiator.
The mrs thinks it would be cute to paint the real one like the toy then mount the toy on the dash. I'm thinking how much better to paint the toy like the REAL car then mount it..lol.
Which Variety Mall? We used to have a gift shop on Bay Street. Right across from Myhrees Restaurant. Next door to the VFW. In fact I am a past Commander of the Port Orchard VFW. There used to be a bike shop on the corner and when we left, they expanded into our old store.
I don't think there was anything across from the A&W when we were there. I'd like to get back up there sometime.
I want to do the same as you but i want to sand blast the body first, can the side view mirrors be removed and then be put back on easily or will they take sandblasting without getting damaged thus not having to be removed. Did you paint over the model without sand blasting? Also on my model i need to change the hood on the Comet to a Maverick hood and grill so it will look like my Comrick.
Correction to the original post...the 75' has not been sold as the deal kinda fell through so is for sale here on the board.
