can you explain the "bottom fell out"
In that part of the Gulf Coast there is what's called the "automatic sprinkler system in the sky"...you can bet on it raining every afternoon...may only last 3 minutes or 30 minutes...but when it comes it like someone is pouring out buckets up there. Hence the term the "bottom fell out":)

Rick, I honestly did not know what to expect. I knew these tires (M/T ET Street Radials) hooked good on the street so I figured they would do great on a sticky track. I was worried that I was gonna break something my first trip out but everything seemed to work good. I'm not sure if I need to mess with the Caltracs or not. I didn't even mess with air pressure (30 lbs). I was hoping the car would get in the high 11's in the qtr and was not sure what kind of numbers to look for in the 1/8th. When I compared times with other guys that have time slips posted, it looks like I may have run mid 11's with it. That's better than I expected, especially with only two runs. I really want to get back and at least get 2-3 more passes out of it since we got rained out (bottom fell out John). Hope to try again hext weekend. Then I gotta convince myself to be happy with that and only go a few times a year. I wanna keep it a good street car and I really wanna leave that 4 speed in it. :)
Oh yeah, I'll have to get back to you on the shutdown area. My 1st pass I think I stayed on the gas too long. It was a little scary for me. Next pass wasn't so bad. Now, if I was turning 5's like you...that might be a different story. I didn't watch any racing last night. When I go back I'll watch some of the fast guys and see how they do and "riport" back to you. The track surface seemed to be pretty good but what do I know? I'll ask my buddies that race there what they think.

Ray, Good times for the first time out. I'm sure it will get quicker. When i ran my MT ET drag radials i ran 19 pounds of pressure. :)

Ray, first let me say that I feel your car is the sharpest on the site.

Sorry to everyone else, I just love Ray's car!

Now, to have run the times you currently just did, do you have ANY idea how many other Maverick/Comet owners would love to be able to brag that they just did THAT.

For your Caltracs, first make sure you are using the bottom hole, after that, what I've found is that every car is different and requires it's own settings.

Just a little preload on the driver side works best for me but that might not work for you, look at KillerComets post about caltracs and I think you might find a good starting point.

Rick my 1/8 mile is about 106 to 107 and 1/4 mile is 130 to 135 depending on the air. I enjoy the other 3.5 seconds of ride.

    Blessing to all

Thanks! I appreciate that very much. Means a lot coming from you. :Handshake And I do have the CalTracs in the top hole so I will move them before I go back to the track.
    Thanks again. :)

Mine has slowed down a bit, i've been doing a remodel/addition on the house and it has consumed most of my free time. However, I do have the passenger side header made and will be starting soon on the driver side. After that i'll do the final assembly on the motor and wrap up all the little things and she'll be ready to go. I hope to get a couple test sessions in before the end of the season.

Sounds like you're gonna have a beast on your hands, can't wait to see it in action!!
