Thanks...and I'll be waiting to find out. Hope it's a tad bit closer but I guess we'll see.

Well well well...I guess if your gonna have problems these are the kind of problems you like to have....let me preface this by saying the track was CRAP.
First attempt at a full pass...blow the tires off at launch.
Second attempt after lowering launch rpm's to 4200...blows the tires off when it hits second gear..backend of car fish tails out and it coasts through the traps at a 5.90 at 97 mph.
Third attempt was same as the second.
Final attempt...when it blew the tires off hitting second gear it starts to come around on me again I ease out of it straighten it up and go through the traps at half throttle and it goes a 5.70 at 120 mph.
And get this...I'm shifting at 7200...this motor produces peak hp at around 8200 which should be my shift point.
I'll be glad when I get to good track where I can get up on the converter and bring that shift point up.:thumbs2:

Rick, how long would it take you to get to Savannah or HInesville? 1/8 mile NHRA track in Savannah; IHRA 1/8 mile in Hinesville.

Terry one of the best tracks in this part of the country is just outside of Aiken..Carolina Dragway...they just weren't open sunday night when I had the opportunity to go.
Dorchester dragstrip (where I went) is what we call an outlaw track around here.
With everything workin right there is no doubt this dog'll hunt.

I'm familiar with the "House of Hook;" not familiar with Dorchester. I just thought the track in Savannah might be a tad closer than 'the Hook.'

    Rick she's gonna run!

I am just glad you have this motor now.....if you would have had these "troubles" a few years ago.....you might be telling use about the new paint you had to order. But with all the laps you have made, I am sure your experience kept that car off the walls. Experience is not always gonna save a car....but it sure can't hurt.
    Thanks for the update.

Yeah. Some of us (not mentioning any names) several years ago had to tell our Mommies we were playing bumper pool with the car.

Stephen I hope you get the Comet runnin before the season is over...I'd like to come up to Shady side for a Saturday race.
Although there's nothin I like better than sneaking up on a 4 banger in the staging lanes:rofl:
John your soooo right...it is amazing how in tune you can be to any thing going on out of the ordinary...some folks are sayin..."how the hell can you do all that and still make a pass in under 6 seconds"...because stayin in it just a split second longer would have meant puttin it in the wall...how did I know I was at part throttle at the traps...because I KNOW when the secondaries are open on the carb.
Speculating that it would go 5.30's or 5.40's before I ran it was just that...speculating...now I know it will even though it hasn't done it...when them tires broke loose hittin second gear in the back of my mind I was thinkin...OMG this bastid wants to run:burnout:funny how ya just KNOW stuff;)
