Understood...so anyone that changes your car in anyway under the hood is illegal...so that is about 1/4 the people in the US. Thanks for the info...something I failed to mention. Most of the time the classic cars at shows and even some high end cars are basically illegal. Even if you use Oil that is not tested on your vehicle it is illegal and if it requires 93 octaine and you use 87 you are illegal as well because the emission controls are different now.
You are talking about IM controlled cars, most of the classics and cars over a certain age become emission exempt in parts of the country.
Yea...I think it is after 20 years when it gets classic status it become exempt. I was talking about the rice burners and late 90's muscle cars (Mustangs, Chargers, Avengers). I had a friend put one of there on his Semi and went from 5mpg to 7mpg...which is great for a semi, but his device was huge and put out 5 or 6 lpm

Facelessnumber, You are applying too much voltage to your grids. The HHO converters use multiple plates that are not connected together. Only the two outer plates are connected to the power source and the intermediate plates are connected only through the electrolyte. Like this: +|||||||||- with insulators between each of the plates. In order to get the electrolysis you only need about .75VDC across any two plates. You set it up so that you were getting 12VDC across each of the plates and so were not only getting HHO but also Aluminum hydroxide, Aluminum oxide and Aluminum Hydride in the mix. If you want to use your heat sinks then use an insulator to hold them just far enough apart that they have .75VDC to 1.5VDC voltage drop between them. (note this is hard to measure but if you get your test leads close to the heat sinks without touching them and adjust the distance until you get the required voltage then you will be ok. The common HHO cells are made with stainless steel switch plates held together with nylon screws and 1/8" - 1/4" insulator bushings between them. The power leads are only connected to the outside plate on each end. Good luck with your expose'.

Hello Brad The O2 sensor is a very important part of the pollution control system. It's "job" is to insure that during idle and light to moderate load conditions, the A/F ratio remains at Stoichiometric, 14.7: 1. You said that you have tampered with your O2 sensor and your car now runs at 16.1: 1. A quick Google will show that you have probably broken most state's polution control laws and probably a few Federal laws by tampering with the O2 sensor and changing the A/F ratio of your car from 14.7 to 16.1 In This post you said; "I had to add some devices to my O2 sensors to fool them to run normal. I added the device first and noticed my fule economy went down but my power went up and my CEL came on. I added the O2 sensor devices and the CEL never came back on and it seems to be idleing smoother, but when I first start my car it wants to idle at 2000 rpm's for about 5 minutes then it backs down to normal (a little below 1000)." I find it somewhat amusing that almost everyone who installs one of these "Wonder" devices reports a Drop in fuel economy until they start tampering with their pollution controls and change the A/F ratio. While you did not say what you did, I suspect that you used Spark Plug non-fouler's to lift the O2 sensors up. That seems to be a pretty common way of making a car run leaner than it is supposed to. What more can be said about the article; it's right on. A back yard 'simple' HHO can't effect any worthwhile change and brings with it a range of other problems both practical and problematic. A word about lean mixtures. 1. unless plugs, cooling system, ignition are designed to handle those lean mixtures, there will be problems. 2. the present Ford motors are running at A/F ratios of as high as 20 to 1 on gas during overdrive and cruise conditions. If a coil develops shorted turns such that it's output voltage lowers but is not completely lost, the motor develops a miss that goes away as soon as heavier throttle is applied and the mix richens up. Very lean mixtures require high voltages to fire. Is the addon likely to have enough ignition available to do this? Is an old 302 cast iron block cooling efficient enough? What happens to ignition timing requirement under these conditions? You would be supprised! These are a few examples that show the motor and it's control sytems have to be designed to a specific set of conditions in order to become practical. Just adding an outboard unit is no where near satifying those requirements. To keep defending such a method as an addon shows the positions of the individual as not really knowing much about it and operating on wishfull thinking after being shown some of the needs of any system to be compatable and compliment each other so success can be achived. There are enough proofs over the years that this system cannot provide any realistic advantage that it should noted as such. If gasoline were $1.50/ga; we would not even be waisting time on this foolish subject.
I wasn't talking about Texas laws specifically it was just the first one I found. If you look at Alabama law you will probably find something similar. Oh and alot of Texas does not have emissions either but all vehicles must have original emission control equipment.
