My dad had a 73 1-ton with a 360manual with granny low. IT never used a drop of oil. IS STILL DRIVING TODAY! Dont make em like that no more.
My neighbor has one of the old cabover 390 trucks on the farm. That would make a neat ramp truck for my 72 Maverick.
What part of Detroit you from? I work for local#80 sheetmetal (Southfield). Your car set-up for a big or smallblock?

Bumpside?
Never heard it called that. Interesting.

I had a 72 shortbed F100 with a 351w and 3 speed.
That thing would tow and not break a sweat.
I Went through the Smokey Mtns with a 16' trailer loaded up with the 75 and much more. I never had to downshift, even up grades. It just plugged right along. I was impressed. It had a 3.50 9" rear.

 

Great truck!! I too am a huge bumpside fan. I have a '71 F250 Custom. Had a 360/C6 originally with power steering and power drum brakes. I got the truck for $300, bought it on Thanksgiving day in 2002, drove it around for a while and blew the original 360, threw the rod right out the side of the block. The truck now has a 300 I6 and 3 speed manual. When pulling the original engine, the hoist tipped over and crushed the grille, radiator support and everything. So it now also has a '68 front end on it. I also have a '68 F100 and '69 F100 Ranger XLT for parts trucks.

This is the only decent picture I have of the truck, taken a couple of days after I got it back in 2002. It didn't have a hood when I bought it.

It's close but his was a 73'-77' model And it morphed from an F-100 to an F-150 from episode to episode.

 

F100,F150,F250,shortbed,longbed.....

 

Just like how Daisy's Roadrunner changed from a 71'-72' to a 73'-74'.

 

Hey these are sorta like the new Knight Rider Mustang changing from a car to a truck to a vibrator to a ....... friggin' la-la-la-lame.

 

The only thing were probably would change are grills, hoods and taillights. It'd be cool to see a flip-nose maverick that could swap comet front ends with and swap the tail panels. How does Comet for Shows, Maverick For goes sound? Or Vice-versa.

 

Nice truck!! Thats the body style I'm missing I have a 1964 and a 1979,need a bump side to fill the gap.Here's a couple of pics.

 

That truck was bought new in Covington, GA, and stayed there up until 2002 when I bought it. Covington is where the first 5 episodes of The Dukes of Hazzard were shot.

 

I have a 69 F-100 with a 72 frontend and a 390

 

One thing I really like about these trucks, and my 71 is the rear bumpers...
If you notice, these trucks have 'real' rear bumpers. Beautifully sculpted to flow with the body lines like any classic car.
The 'step' bumpers that came standard shortly after these models are plain ugly and uninspired. Can't stand step bumpers.

Thnx for the comments, just took her out for a spin today. Thank god it has a working heater and windshield wipers, now it needs some speakers so we can blare Zeppelin out of them.
