Check out the funky stripe job..... The car is definately due for a new paint scheme! Pretty sweet interior though...
Well, got the car home. Was a nice road trip, and the seller turned out to be a really nice, helpful guy. Thanks for the Mustang message board link....it'll be a big help. I drove the car up and down the road.....has a vacuum leak so it idles rough, needs a brake booster (unless it's part of the vacuum leak) and the trans slips a bit, otherwise it runs decent and still scoots pretty good. Really not a bad deal for $213....... yup, a rust free, running, driving '83 ragtop Mustang....$213 I lucked out. It's going to be a fun project
Looks like a replacement passenger door is going to cost me as much or more than the whole car did! LOL I'm still well onto the "dirt cheap" zone though. We've budgeted around $2,500 for the project...one door and front fender replacement, engine and trans swap (already have engine/trans), 17" wheels/tires (already have wheels/tires) and a paint job (son bought me a spray gun and accessories kit for Christmas) if I can rig a place to do body prep and paint, we might just make it within the budget. Yeah, right!
Not bad.. My 80 Coupe has paid for itself and made me money. I gave $200 for it. Sold my Comet for $750 and I got to keep the wheels/tires, motor/tranny. Scrapped the motor/tranny in the mustang for around $50 Ordered a aluminum radiator from ebay. Guy sent copper/brass. I asked to return it and a refund on money. Guy gives me a return, but never sends me a sticker to return it and deletes his ebay account. So Radiator = $200 ish Traded a set of wheels/tires I had for moser axles and c-clip eliminators. So far the car has made me about $50 if you don't count the difference in the 750-200. Sorry to hijack the thread... just nice to see another budget mustang builder on here
