Not my first choice in "toys",but she likes 'em.Got her an '87 Fiero GT.2.8 v6/5speed car.Runs good, feels like driving a go cart:biglaugh:.Her other toy choices were 72 Chevelles and early Mustangs,so we got what we could afford. After some internet snooping it looks like there are some rabid Fiero enthusiasts out there, even more so than we are over Mav/Coms.Looks like the 3800 GM v6 is not a hard swap:thumbs2:,right now we're going to look into some wheels/color change(it has a crappy paintjob now). We're thinking some 17" five spoke style wheels and a really dark hunter green paint job(her favorite color).

Cool ... 1988 are actually the best ones ... 1987 and prior used Chevette suspension ... 88 actually had a newly designed sports car suspension ... and then they stopped making them.

I hear a lot of guys like to swap in Cadillac northstar motors. I think there are kits out there for the swap. Then that thing will scream! I had an 88 Fiero too. Mine was an auto and a dog. The 5 speeds make a difference. They do handle like a go cart. Imagine that thing with 300+ HP

They do like to burst into flames though... the harness under the dash is the culprit. They are cool though W/3.8 swap.have fun!!!

Northstar and LSX swaps are popular. While I am not a fan of the Fiero, everytime I see one with a V8, it brings a smile to my face. There are a few near me with the LS1 corvette engine. Check out this one. Is this hot or what?

A friend out here had one with a 350 in it. Now he has a VW bug with a 350 in it. Talk about a screamer.

I thought it was the harness between the motor/interior.There was supposed to be a recall where they put heat shields around the harness to solve that.If it's the one under the dash, what do I need to look for?

'88s the one we were looking for because of the better suspension. But this one came along relatively cheap.I figure it's a way to get her feet wet in the wonderful world of old(er) cars.If she continues to like it we may look into finding a clean '88 later on..

Haha! we were laughing at a Fiero today! I had a friend that bought one new, talk about a lemon. I know another guy, that his dad bought a pace car one, never drove it, as far as I know it's still in the garage just like new, window sticker and all. And come to think of it, one of the guys at the speed shop I go to, has one with a 3800. But if the car you bought made it this far, it must be a decent one, enjoy!!

I almost bought a new Yellow Fiero Formula back in 1988 ... decided I didn't want 350/month payments at the time though ... Would be neat to have one now though to to drive around in. There is a club around here and they usually have a few cars at the local car shows.
