We about have the TR7 back together. We will take it to the local 1/8 mile track in a couple of weeks. It has a 351w with a light cam, shorty headers, dual plane intake and a 600 holley. It has a c6 tranny with a stock stall. The rear is an 8 inch with 4.62 gears and a spool. I am guessing it to be around 2300lbs. What do you think it will run assuming I can get it to hook. I am hoping for around an 8.50
if you get that thing dialed in......and all numbers are correct, at that weight, gear ratio, pending you don't run out of gear.......I would guess an easy in the 7's.
Wow another car from across the pond with ford power. A friend has a bug eyed sprite with full frame- built 460,C6, 9 in rear and 456. Just has to wire and get brakes done. This is a wild car to even look at.Only 12in between the side walls of the huge tires. been a 2yr project so far.Only the carb sticks thru hood and rear tires are under body. I will try to take some pics 1 day ttfn
sounds cool. We were at the track saturday and a guy brought in a TR7 that had a full tube frame 700hp sbc and 32-14-15 tires. He didn't get a good pass because the track wwas slick but said it would run a 6.30 in the 1/8
before my car was PINKY it had a plain jane 306, c4, open headers, 4.56 with spool, slapper bars and 28 inch slicks....weighed around 2700 pounds (without me in it) and went 7.70's......of course I was so that probably helped a bunch
Right now it will be some wide street tires but when I get the money up I am going to get some 24-8-14 slicks
All I can say is that my Fiat 124 Spider with an aluminum headed 302, 3 speed manual and 4.56 gear would hit 106 mph in 1/8 of a mile from a complete stop, on the street, with 13 inch Good Year all season radials. Car weighs about 1900 pounds. That's around 6.70 in the 1/8. The only thing you got holding you back is the heavier engine and trans. Put a set of aluminum heads on that thing and dump the C6 for a T5 (or even a C4), and I'll bet it would really scream. Man, I've got to get that car going again soon. It's been a year and a half since I've drove that car, and even still, just sitting here thinking about it, I still get a slight adrenalin rush. It was a blast.
...sooooo you're saying...if the car is setup for...7's...it should run...7's. ...and the track ain't slick or the weather don't change or you don't break anything or you don't run out of gas...yada yada, yada.. OH...and if you could post a ...time slip...we could be a little more accurate....got any...Dyno#s... ......
with the specs. you have given...i would guess...5.347... this guess is based on everything i know about ...Drag Racing... ...Frank...
I would hope for mid-high 7s.A c4 would make it faster,c6s take quite a bit more hp to turn than the c4.I'm not a fan of 4.62s with a mostly stock motor. With your light weight I'd say it would run better with 3.55/3.80 gears.
