When I was paying for the 3.0 I6 I had planned to throw in my MB 230E, I got to talking a bit to the seller about various Mercedes cars and I mentioned I had always had a thing for the 190's. He then told me about a car about 30 minutes from my house, that was going cheap because of a blown headgasket.. Didn't really think much about it until I got home and started thinking; hmm, a 190 with a 3.0.. Now that would be something Long story short, I ended up buying that 190E for about 1000$.. Turned out it didn't even have a blown headgasket, just a broken thermostat The car is a 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E Sportline Haven't really gotten to taking any pics yet, so I'll upload some a friend took: My car on the far right, a 1984 230E in the middle and a 1990 230CE to the left.. Picking up the 3.0 I6: Of course, it started snowing heavily when we picked up the engine.. Best part was that we were driving a MB C180(RWD of course), and we were surrounded by a few steep hills and a lot of snow.. Eventually we had to call for help from someone with a 4WD Camry
Nice cars. Looks like a famila meeting taking place at the yard Looks like we have the same kinda luck when picking something up. It's sure to storm of some kind.
blugene: Hehe, most people I know are driving Merc's these days.. Kinda cool when we're cruising 6-7 MB's in a row Yeah, seems to always happen like that; I think we struggled for an hour with the C180.. It was 2 different roads from the house we picked up the 3.0, and guess what? Both were hills with like 30% elevation That and all the snow, didn't really help much (I bought one of your calendars btw, loved it ) Paintank:Those are awesome cars, I'm picturing a lowered, 040 black one when I'm thinking of it What kind of V8 did it have? Don't think I've heard of a 2.8 V8 before
It was a gold 2 door with a sunroof and I don't remember the engine displacement. I remember it didn't like high altitudes and would gradually get slower as I went up the side of the Sandia Crest. But it went faster as I came down. Cruised at 80 all day long too. I removed the factory radio and installed a Blaupunkt stereo cassette and a small amp under the dash. The radio had a radio tower with lightning bolts on it.
He happens to own a Ford that is bad azz... http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/browseimages.php?do=member&imageuser=6989
Oh by the way dspr your Comet GT is dead sexy. There is something about the stance and the color combo that is just perfect.
Thanks for the compliments on both the 190E and my GT , have an '86 230E as well.. Awesome cars to drive those MB's.. The Comet hasn't been registered yet though, few small things that need attention still.. Will have it roadworthy this summer though, has been sitting for almost a year now actually.. Jamie Miles: The pics are taken at an old lumber-yard, about 5 mins from my house.. Most of the buildings there have been vandalized by now, as the company moved to another location a few years back.. Was kinda cool to take pics there, looked like a ghost town Edit: Forgot to mention that the 190E is supposed to be my new "winter-car", while the Comet is going to be my car for the summer The 230E is for sale right now..
