    Tony,

So this is THE car in the video? How many were made....with or without the "flight package"?

Based on what we have been able to find out so far and according to what Bert Boeckmann owner of Galpin Motors has told us there was only the 1 Flying Pinto with wings. With the crash of the AVE Mizar Flying Pinto the project was halted. The one Pintony has was put together by Galpin Motors for the video because the wings didn't detach from the Flying Pinto and they needed one for the video to be used to show potential investors in the AVE Mizar project. The Flying Pinto 2 (as dubbed by Beau Boeckmann) never had flight instrumentation installed or wings attached.

so.. to answer the question... 1 with wings and the car Pintony has

    Hello Craig,
There were only 2. The one that flew and the one I have.
Acording to the man that made produced directed and narrated the video just the 2, Pintos no other prototypes exist.

Henry Smolinski and Harold Blake Remembered

Here's something that should be said and remembered. I didn't have the words for it but Bill at the Connecticut Pinto and Bobcat forum ( www.ctpintobobcat.com ) has provided the words I couldn't...

This car is not just part of Pinto history, but of American history, and as excited as the Pinto community is about the finding of a car that was thought to be lost forever, it’s important to remember the people as well. We would like to honor those people for not only having the ability to dream big (very big), but to also have the courage and determination to turn it into a reality; a step so few of us ever take. The Pinto community would like to take this opportunity to express our sincerest condolences to the families of the two people that passed on that tragic day so long ago.

    Bill

Thank you Bill, it is important to remember the people as well as the deeds. Henry Smolinski and Harold Blake had a dream and as unfortunate as the end result was it is still important to remember the people involved, the impact they had and the people left behind.

I would like to add my deepest sympathy to the families along with yours, Henry Smolinski and Harold Blake will never be forgotten and always remembered.

    Brian

The History Of The AVE Mizar Flying Pinto

The History Of The AVE Mizar Flying Pinto

While not complete it is a start, as I get new and updated info I will post it but I have been working on "The History" and here is what I have so far posted on my web site.

From the earliest newspaper articles in 1970 where Henry Smolinski started to share his idea with the world to it's unfortunate end in 1973 with the crash of the AVE Mizar Flying Pinto. I have gathered as much information as I can in hopes of telling the most complete story possible of this fantastic idea, concept and implementation of a dream.

The James Bond movie "Man with the Golden Gun" featured a scene with a flying AMC Matatdor. Similar looking wing attachment as the Pinto.

Was this also a AVE Misar car? Not even sure if it was really flying, looks like it is though.

there are several ways it has been mis-spelled but it is AVE Mizar and yes, it did really fly, much better and higher than most would realize.

If you watch the video from Galpin Ford and look for the scene where they are flying along the coast at 9min and 32 sec... I have been told that footage was taken while flying in the AVE Mizar Flying Pinto :)

I don't think you get my question

    AVE Mizer -
Was the Matador from the Man with the Golden Gun also built by AVE Mizer?

    Flying Pinto lands in Illinois

    Hey Craig,
    Thank you for the Thumbs-UP!
I finally got the flying Pinto home to work on getting it ready for the car shows.
Here is a shot just off the transport truck from California...

    Hello Maverick group,
I have found an airframe for my Pinto and plan to show it at the june 2011 All Ford Carlisle. WITH WINGS!!!!
Rick Marko of Carlisle wants the flying Pinto at the 2010 show but that seems unlikely at this time, at least with the wings.
Make plans to attend now to see the Flying Pinto June 2011 Carlisle Pa.
