Just watching Barret Jackson. Has the market crashed or what. Just saw a 69 camaro pace car 4 speed convertible go for 32000. The cars are going for peanuts compared to a year ago. Its funny watching the guys on stage trying to pump up it up and sell the car. Great time to buy and let the builder take a huge loss. -70 torino gt conv. grabber green original paint. went in the mid twenties -41 caddillac all original paint and int. 20000 miles went for 25000 -70 camaro big block for 16500 This is nuts. No way could you restore that 70 camaro and install a big block for 16500. What a deal.
It depends what days you watch it one day i watched it the cars were reaching 500,000-1,000,000 next time top car was 50,000 it depends on the rareness of the car i dont really think it has changed in the past few months and barret isnt losing any money its the seller lol
I watch it a lot and the prices have dropped dramatically from a year ago. Even tonight the Friday night cars arent bringing the money they used to. Yes B.Jackson is overpriced but it still reflects the market. B.Jackson loses just like the seller. They get a percentage of the sale and buy. Just saw a black on black 57 Tbird go for 26000. Half of a year ago. 57 Chev convertible 60 grand. Easy 100 a year ago. Scary that BJackson and its filthy rich clientele is even taking a hit in these times.
They also had an 03 T-Bird with 4 miles on it sticker price was 42,000 sold for 30,000 and was a one owner car thats a big lost.
Just remember,The secondary market( Barrett Jackson/Mecum etc...) Is fueled by the buyers and what they are willing to spend and the hype surrounding the cars. It has little to do with actual value. On a good day with the right hype a pristine Mav/Comet would see money most of us wouldnt pay for one.Now...cost to restore doesnt enter the equation considering the buyers(many of em dont even know what a loaf of bread costs)People like us who turn our own wrenches can appreciate the work/cost involved as much as the rarity or lack there of of a certain car.The rich boys are interested in collecting em to say they have one and rarely take em out of their hermetically sealed environs let alone run em down the road(not the way to appreciate a fine automobile).Oops my foot just went through my soap box...
Agree 100%. These guys will pay any amount if they want that particular car. Its a whole different world. Fun to watch though. The prices are way down though from years past.
The Palm Beach auction can't be compared to the Scottsdale auction, different customers. Even though, some of those cars are selling for way less than it cost to restore them. It's a good time to buy!!
It's what they get for these cars on Barrett Jackson , that increases the value of our cars, I wouldn't knock the big guns to much!!!!!!!!
it really depends were they are selling.. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION if their area bunch of old guys they might want 50s cars....
