i recently got a 82 5.0 mustang from my older brother..its been sitting for about 4 years now i tried to start the engine but no luck as soon as i plugged in the new battery the alarm went off and my brother lost the remote for it..when the alarmed stopped ringing i put the key in the ignition a tried to turn it on but the only thing that happened was it made a zzzzt noise and sparks just came out of the battery...whats wrong with it could it be the alarm not letting the current go through to crank the car...how could i check if the engine isnt stuck...i also tried that thing with the solenoid when u touch the positive cable outlet with the other outlet to crank but no luck..if anybody knows whats wrong let me know...

Are you sure the battery is hooked up right? Pos to Pos and Neg to Neg. If you can get a 15/16 socket on the Dampner bolt you can try to turn it by hand. Not sure on a Mustang wether you have enough room or not. Is it an aftermarket alarm? if so I'd try to disconnect it also. :)

Depends on how it hooks up... If you can find the controller box for it, probably under the dash, (look for wires that don't look stock, and follow them) maybe get the make and model number off that and use it to find the installation instructions online, call the company, etc. Otherwise trace the wires coming from the alarm controller, see where they go and take 'em out.

That is why you are arcing at the battery.....
and it may not have a good connection to get a good ground or current.
Start with the easy stuff and then work you way up.....

Before you start to hotwire, tighten the battery connections first.

Loose battery connectors will not only spark when you turn the key, but they will not get full power.

Think of a garden hose only connected to the spigot half way. Half the water will splash out at the connection (sparks) and your sprinkler will only squirt a little bit (zzzzzt).

Crank it down and you may be surprised. And be sure the battery is fully charged. No telling how long and how often that alarm has gone off and drained the battery.
